Summary
THE HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED BRAND NEW NOVEL IN THE #1 BESTSELLING RIVERS OF LONDON SERIES
There is a world hidden underneath this great city....
The London Silver Vaults—for well over a century, the largest collection of silver for sale in the world. It has more locks than the Bank of England and more cameras than a celebrity punch-up.
Not somewhere you can murder someone and vanish without a trace—only that's what happened.
The disappearing act, the reports of a blinding flash of light and memory loss amongst the witnesses all make this a case for Detective Constable Peter Grant and the Special Assessment Unit.
Alongside their boss, DCI Thomas Nightingale, the SAU find themselves embroiled in a mystery that encompasses London's tangled history, foreign lands and, most terrifying of all, the North!
And Peter must solve this case soon because back home, his partner, Beverley, is expecting twins any day now. But what he doesn't know is that he's about to encounter something—and somebody—that nobody ever expects....
Effortlessly original, endlessly inventive and hugely entertaining—step into the world of the much-loved, number one best-selling Rivers of London series.
Discover why this incredible series has sold over two million copies worldwide. If you're a fan of Terry Pratchett, you will love the imaginative, irreverent and all-round irresistible RIVERS OF LONDON books.

Well worth waiting for
Tightly woven, intriguing, even paced, comical, whimsical, breathtaking story with my beloved characters and that spellbinding Narrator, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, casting his mesmerising spell. I had a dread that one of my favourite characters was going to cop it. Listen/read to find out.

Good but not outstanding.
Lovers of the Rivers of London series will enjoy this book. I did, but I don’t feel it is the best of the series. The plot was fairly complex and there were a lot of new characters which made it a bit difficult to follow. I had to listen a second time to really understand it.
All the old friends from the previous stories were there, as well as all the magic from the earlier books. The series is however best read or listened to in order. I cannot recommend that anyone start their Rivers of London adventure with this book. There is just too much going on and too many references to earlier books and adventures for a newcomer to fully appreciate this book.

It's more of a worldbuilding book but Kobna is such a great narrator that he can make anything interesting.

I missed these guys!
Wonderful as ever. I was so happy to catch up with all the characters again, they feel like old friends, especially as KHS’s narration brings them fully to life. The story was great and I might have slightly cried a little bit in the emotional places… Please never stop writing Rivers of London!

A strong addition
I felt the last outing from Ben Aaronovitch was weaker than all of the previous Rivers of London books.
However, this one is a good return to form. Much more in keeping with the first books, which are still by far the strongest in the series.
The Leslie storyline just needs to end now, though. It feels crowbarred in and doesn't add anything.

Past, Present, & Future.
Aaronovitch & Holdbrook-Smith bring their absolute A-game in this latest adventure. A fantastic story that delights listeners with both a brilliant plot and fascinating world building, this is a true 10/10 and is definitely worth a listen.

Another first class addition to the series
The series continues to develop story lines and characters and the progression from the first book to this one is measured and relatable.

possibly best yet
After a long withdrawal, I was stoked to see another inbthe series, but frankly a little worried that it might not work for me after such a gap. I need not have been concerned. This is a really good addition to the series. personally I prefer the audiobooks over reading because I see them as a collaboration between author and narrator and I'm so glad that their relationship continues. Kobna really brings these to life. his range is impressive and I feel he's committed to the project. Another great story in the series.

just superb
I loved this book in this series just as much as I love the first book, except now I will need to wait until Ben ( and Kobna) get finished with the next book. I can't wait. I hope you enjoy this recommendation to read this book and the whole series.

Still one of the best series ever
I've lost count of how many books this is now (8? 10?) but it doesn't matter, they are still fantastic. The story features another mysterious killing with supernatural elements and Peter and the team at the Folly have to track down the perpetrator. There are appearances by most of the usual crowd, Lesley, the foxes, the River Goddeses and a new trainee. A nice piece of family development as well. Ben's writing remains fresh, clever, witty and fast paced whilst being detailed enough to describe a scene so well, you'd swear you could see it. And I maintain Kobna Holdbrook-Smith is the best narrator I have ever heard. You need to have read the rest of the books to understand this one, but if you haven't got this series, get it.

another top performance
the problem with thisbook is that once you get too the last part you realise that once you finish you will have to wait months or longer for the next one.
as always a well writtten and researched story with plenty of funny bits and nuggets to remember
hollbrok-smith is always perfect as peter going from polite voice to private and through the other characters like he is them all
now get working on the next one!

Entertaining page turner
Entertaining as always. Don't read or listen if you did not read or listen the previous books.
Would be hard to follow if you did not read/listen previous parts. Some characters from previous books are mentioned, talked about or play their roles but are not reintroduced.
I think that is ok
It takes the series in new and interesting directions.
