Summary
Raeann O’Riley thought her dreams had come true when she met her soulmate, Nick Bannon. But her fantasy is shattered after a jealous rival for his affection drugs and seduces him, and worse, becomes pregnant. Feeling betrayed and heartbroken, Raeann slams the door on her heart and throws away the key, dedicating herself to her career as a criminal profiler for the FBI.
Seven years later, when a missing person’s case crosses her desk, Raeann must reopen the wounds that destroyed her life so that she may save the life of a child - and not just any child, but Max, Nick’s only son.
But there are worse terrors than a broken heart, and when Raeann’s mission becomes a battle for survival, she finds herself up against an enemy so evil and cunning that her own will to survive might not be enough to save her.

Long road to a second chance at love
Raeann and Nick were high school sweethearts, seemingly meant for each other. Ready to get married right after she graduates from college, and conniving and horrible woman drugs and rapes Nick, later to show up pregnant and claiming it’s his child. But it’s not the incident, but that he wasn’t forthcoming or honest about it, that causes the rift between them. As well as one other big bomb, <no spoilers>, so Raeann leaves Seattle while they try to figure out where they go from there. But bad choices are made on both sides of this coin, and they end up not reconnecting until nearly 7 years later, which Raeann is brought in on a case that has her trying to rescue Nick’s son, Max - but she doesn’t know it’s his son. There’s a lot that happens in this story, on both sides, but we mostly get Raeann’s story - her life in the FBI, with her best friends Michael and Chris, and the changes that in the end bring her and Nick back together again. The story lost a star because it seems so odd that this couple, who are so insanely happy, would just fall apart so quickly and spectacularly, with very little communication. And then after they reconnect, she’s mad that he never came for her - even though she specifically asked her parents not to tell literally anyone where she was or what she was doing. But a couple slip ups put Nick on her path, and even with all the pain they caused each other, they still love each other deeply. Things also come together, almost a bit too perfectly, in the end, but in the end, this is a first love, second chance romance with a sweet HEA.

Lawd, Almighty!
This is the first audible book I couldn't make past chapter 4. The storyline is predictable, female characters seem to be whiny and are amplified by the narrator's voice (Sorry, not personal...just my opinion.), as well as stereotypical. When I originally looked for a book I set my search parameters for "Strong Female Agent" so I was surprised when the storyline didn't fulfill my expectations. This book is not for me, but hopefully, it seems like there are many who do enjoy this book.

Enjoyable Listen!
I really enjoyed this story. I think the two main characters attracted danger way too much lol. I guess that will happen when you are in the FBI but still seemed like a lot. I like the characters and how they all interacted. I am glad there was a happy ending. The narration was good. It was pleasant to listen to and kept me interested.

SO SAD!!!
I expected so much more from this book. The storyline was long and predictable. She got involved in a couple challenges and got out of it by herself (so not credible). First time I fast-forwarded a book. I couldn't stand it anymore. I'm sorry guys,

Good Story
Agent Raeann O'Riley is definitely more second chance romance with little suspense. Good story that move along and kept my attention. The audio narration was also well done.

good mystery
it's a love story entwined with a bit of mystery. Raeann fell hard for Nick. Nick was her everything. And she was his.
Fowl play by outside forces causes them to end it. Raeann is heartbroken. She has to live on for two now.
With her dangerous line of work she ends up getting injured (quite a few times actually) and one of her cases brings Nick back into her life. The mystery needs to be solved after all.
Now I enjoyed the book -- but the ending was not my favorite. I'm glad they got their HEA but the way it happened? it wasn't that great to me. it seemed like every trope imaginable was used. I won't spoil it. I do suggest you read the book. I will gladly be continuing the series myself.
