Summary

Each culture has its own myths and legends, but only one is shared, and it is feared by all.

With Age of Myth, Age of Swords, and the New York Times best-selling Age of War, fantasy master Michael J. Sullivan riveted fans with a tale of unlikely heroes locked in a desperate battle to save humankind. After years of warfare, humanity has gained the upper hand and has pushed the Fhrey to the edge of their homeland, but no farther. Now comes the pivotal moment.

Persephone’s plan to use the stalemate to seek peace is destroyed by an unexpected betrayal that threatens to hand victory to her enemy and leaves a loved one in peril. Humanity’s only hope lies in the legend of a witch, a forgotten song, and a simple garden door.

Too much like a build up for next book

I am a huge fan of both author and narrator. What I have against this book is that not that much happens. When it finally does, the book ends. The entire book feels like a build up for the coming book.
I am of course looking forward to reading the next book, because I am invested in the story line, but I don't get why this book was not made shorter and then merged with the next book.

The narrator was great as usual and writing style of the author still great. I am just sitting with an empty feeling of an unresolved story.

Stepping stone story

Humph... well that’s another book down and having to wait for the next. Pretty annoying to have to wait, as the story, for all it was good, didn’t go anywhere, it was a filler book, a stepping stone book, the book in between where you have to wait for the next.
For an author with a self proclaimed different writing style and having written all the books already, you have to wait an awfully long time for the next.
Hurry up the next release please I need to know what happens.
Really getting into this series and intrigued to know how it ends

Best one yet

What a masterpiece Sullivan is creating here. I completely forgot about the books after the first 3 (and I loved them) but the fourth book is just starting to pick up. I can’t believe how good he is at blending history with human emotions and then throwing in a little sci-fi.

Absolutely love this series. Finished the book in about a week and I’m about to jump straight into the next one.

Built and built into a fantastic ending.

I've thoroughly enjoyed this series and the characters, yet almost found myself struggling in the middle of this one. However, it didn't last long- and could have been due to my mind racing with COVID19 etc. -but the second half...wow! What an adventure again. Suspense and mystery unbound. Fantastic. Here's to the next one. Awesome narration too.

Age of boredom is more realistic

What started as a reasonable series has morphed into a flat and egocentric babble.
The thick as a plank tribe, begin making leaps of technological advance that would eclipse Einstein, while in every other way remaining dull as dishwater.
Don't waste your time on this young adult fantasy mock-up. There are plenty of worthwhile novels available.

Slow, dull and sacrificing storytelling in order to introduce us to god awful characters that don't inspire anything other than sleep.
I genuinely don't know what other reviewers found in this book or how it has such a high rating????

My advise give it a miss!

Disappointing Ending - What Happened?

I am in two minds about this book. One minute you are in the present, then it skips 5 years .. Very little explanation about the events of those 5 years!

We pick up again in the Harwood Forest, where things have reached an impasse. Some of the characters are now being shown in their true light, which is not very flattering. I got the impression this book was a filler.

The ending could, in my opinion, have been better.

Smile

Lovely to be once again reunited and immersed in Sullivan's writing. His world and characters are magically brought to life by Renolds skilled narration. I particularly like the tone achieved by author and narrator. Just right, neither grim nor shallow it has depth and humour with a lightness of touch. These books make me smile. The only downside is the wait for the next book.
