About this listen
“Sometimes love happens when you least expect it.” That was what my husband’s mistress told me the day I found out about their affair.
I didn’t believe it until five minutes later when mouthwatering celebrity chef Tanner Reese walked up, tossed his arm around my shoulders, and told my cheating husband to take a hike.
Tanner and I couldn’t have been more different. He spent his weekends at clubs, rubbing elbows with fellow A-listers. I spent mine in yoga pants with cheese boards and a glass of wine - or six.
Our relationship shouldn’t have worked, but it did. That is until Tanner proved to me that even though love happens when you least expect it....
So does heartbreak.

Another Great Book From Aly Martinez!
As always after listening or reading one of Aly Martinez book it is the emotions that you go through with the characters. We start with Rita married to Greig for 7 years suddenly finding out that her husband has had a sixth month affair with one of the practice nurse where they both work.
Rita is devastated and decides to divorce Greig , but he wants her back. The more she finds out the less she wants him. Suddenly to get rid of husband who is grabbing her at the practice fund raiser. When a handsome man comes towards them, she pretends to know him and he agrees.
Suddenly she is friends with Tanner a chief whose company donates the food for the fundraiser for the children.
Both Tanner and Rita have there private things they haven’t come to terms with.
This has drama, love, happiness all the range that Aly does so well. I absolutely loved Tanner I though he was a sweetie. Rita lost all her self confidence and was frightened to be in love again. It took a lot from Tanner to help her love again
NARRATED BY TROY DURAN AND EMMA WILDER were excellent pulling me , I never was jolted from the story once by the narrators, Which for me is a win win

All the feels!
Aly Martinez, why is this the first book I have listened to of yours? I have fallen in love with Tanner and Rita! When I first started listening to this and the tragic way Rita's marriage was ending, I was a little concerned. Would Rita bounce back? Would she go back to the idiot man who was trying to get back into her good graces? But then it all turned around. She took control, and when opportunity knocked, and a gorgeous man was there, she took the chance and kissed him! Of course, neither Rita or Tanner were looking for love, but their slow burn relationship of getting know each other, was just amazing. From tuna casserole to yoga pants, Rita is an ordinary woman showing how she cares for her man. Tanner, a famous TV chef is taken back by her kindness and true ways of affection. It's endearing, and impossible not to root for this couple! With some twists and turns though, life is never easy. Give this "simmering" story a listen, and you will find out just what I am talking about!
Emma Wilder and Troy Duran bring this emotionally charged story to life. I could not stop listening, their ability to make me feel the story was captivating. I loved Emma's portrayal of Rita. She gave her the pain, sense of betrayal and glimpse of hope all with her voices. Troy captured Tanner's essence with his tone of voice, giving us his frustration and love. It's a wonderful listen.
