About this listen
When the seas of love grow choppy, sometimes the best course is to abandon ship!
Two years ago, Ryan Abernathy was too tongue-tied, too introverted, and entirely too nervous to flirt with his hot but presumably straight new roommate. So when Ryan’s sister swooped in and scooped the hottie up for herself, he accepted his fate and kept his crush a secret.
Sawyer Muller never meant to find himself in a fake relationship with his sexy roommate's sister. And how was he supposed to know that Ryan would become his bestie and star in way too many of his dreams?
Things get complicated when Julia Abernathy strikes a deal with Sawyer to upgrade from fake boyfriend to groom, though they only need to stay married long enough for her to get her trust fund. They plan a fun cruise ship wedding with her entire family in tow. Sawyer figures it sounds like an adventure, and when they quietly divorce later, he’ll finally be free of all the pretense.
With Julia and Ryan’s homophobic, snooty family present, the pressure is turned up...especially when Sawyer finds himself jilted at the altar and drowning in a sea of blame from her family. His only life preserver is the Abernathy sibling he can’t admit to wanting...Ryan.
Note: This full-length m/m romantic comedy will keep you in stitches. Watch out for an awkward first kiss, a record-making group wedding, and sexy competitive shuffleboard. Before you board this ship, make sure you pack a fan because things are about to heat up on board this vessel!

Fun with puns!
A standalone in a series of stories all tied to the same cruise line.
As usual, Susie Hawke has written a delightful, fun and sweet story with a fake boyfriend (to the sister), friends to lover trope and a few hijinks :) The story is not all fun and games - Sawyer started out somewhat, let's say weak, but when he had to, he stood up for himself against his fake GF and her family.
Michael Pauley does a great job (as always) with characterising the voices for each person, along with his knack for letting the emotions of the characters shine through his performance. A great way to experience the story!

Perfect MM Romcom!
This is a fantastic MM romance comedy! There is humor, romance, very funny scenes (running into Aunt Agnes as well as the balcony sex scene), figuring out what matters in your life, and telling your homophobic family to kiss your you know what. I absolutely loved it, and I will listen to it again and again.
Michael Pauley's narration really makes this audiobook! He hits all the emotions perfectly and really brings the funny scenes and conversations to life. The pleasure of this audiobook is 50% the story and 50% Pauley!
I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook through the author and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

I loved this charming book
I adore this series, the Valentine Inc cruise idea offers so many different opportunities.
This book is totally marvellous. It's sweet, funny, sexy and the story has some lovely moments. I wanted to slap Julia frequently, but she's got a heart of gold really. The balcony scene with the step-mother - I laughed myself silly. Lots of fun in Susan Hawke's usual style.
Michael Pauley is really funny in this book. He is sexy as always, but he had me in stitches with his narration. Fabulous job.
I received an ARC of this ebook but opinions are my own.

Rom com
Abandoning ship is a fab book in the Valentines Inc Cruises collection. This book has a lot packed in, roommates/best friends to lovers, fake romance, secret pining and a crazy family.
Sawyer and Ryan are interested in each other when they first meet but never let on, a situation arises were Sawyer enters into a fake relationship with Ryan’s sister Julie ensuring that nothing can ever happen between them. Fast forward a couple of year and they find themselves on a cruise where Sawyer and Julie are going to marry, Ryan whilst secretly still crushing on Sawyer has to ensure the trip from hell.
This book plays out as a far-fetched romantic comedy but it is a total romp and very enjoyable read. I laughed through this book, some of the things that happen on this cruise are crazy! But underlining it all is a very cute romance between Ryan and Sawyer and you really are rooting for them as a couple.
Michael Pauley does a fantastic job of bringing this book to life, he makes the funny scenes even better and really captures the sweet romantic moments very well.
If you are looking for some escapism definitely give this one a try.

Such a fantastic, funny and feel-good story!
I’ve been a fan of Susan’s for a while but this one feels different and was the perfect romantic comedy to get you out of your head and into some wonderful, funny and uniquely deceptive family drama culminating in a missed wedding, an accidental marriage and a couple of “stick it to the man” (aka their father) coming out moments! I loved it!!
You can’t help but laugh at some of the sexy time shenanigans and a unique coitus-interruptus in the form of a ‘plastic’, deck-climbing, step mum! I felt this whole story was perfectly well rounded and Susan injects the longing and laughter into the story from the beginning. I loved the MF fake-boyfriend approach that got 2 years out of hand, and almost included a real marriage from their fake relationship! Thankfully both the bride and groom were able to find their true and real happily ever afters and the events that follow will have you laughing at every turn. I absolutely loved this story and it’s definitely going to be added to my feel-good fav re-reads!
Michael is fantastic as always but I must say, he did do a unique and slightly cringe-worthy job for Valentine’s Inc.’s Love Director LOL!
Thanks for reading!
