Summary
Winner: Crime & Thriller of the Year – Specsavers National Book Awards 2012
When you're as big and rough as Jack Reacher - and you have a badly-set, freshly-busted nose patched with silver duct tape - it isn't easy to hitch a ride. But Reacher has some unfinished business in Virginia, so he doesn't quit. And at last, he's picked up by three strangers - two men and a woman. But within minutes it becomes clear they're all lying about everything - and then they run into a police roadblock on the highway. There has been an incident, and the cops are looking for the bad guys....
Will they get through because the three are innocent? Or because the three are now four? Is Reacher just a decoy?
With his signature Swiss-watch plotting and heart-thumping suspense, A Wanted Man shows Lee Child at his sublimely skilful best.

Spoiler Alert - Reacher doesn't get laid!
I think this must be only the second in the series so far where Jack doesn't have his wicked way with at least one of the female characters. I was trying to decide which one it would be, but was pleasantly surprised when our blue-balled hero ended the book heading for the clover leaf. I find myself really warming to Reacher and his matter of fact bluntness that makes me laugh out loud on so many occasions, but like so many Reacher books, all of the action happens in the last 70 minutes of the story, which means I drift off part way through the earlier chapters. Child threw in a nice selection of curve balls in this on that I didn't see coming.. he then played them out a little too much so they became predictable. All in all, a good listen.

a good listen
I listened to this over a period of a couple of days whilst doing a long trip. It kept my interest and had a good story line. some descriptions went on a bit and the ending was a bit strange - lots of loose ends for a follow up book no doubt...

Great pace
Really enjoyed this story. It was fast paced and didn't feel the need to explain every plot detail along the way to allow the reader some inference and keep you guessing. Performance was also good.

A man for all readers
Lee Child is one of those exceptional writers who writes for all types of reader, whether its action & adventure, horror or romance. He has everything covered and it does not put you off when for example you want to be reading a spy thriller he has it in spades, but he also puts in a little romance for our hero and he really seems to fall in love with every leading lady instead of the love em and leave em James Bond. I am so excited that et are finally putting jack reacher (our somewhat tarnished hero) onto the silver screen as it will bring a whole new readership to the books.
