From best-selling author Melanie A. Smith comes the first book in a new series of steamy contemporary medical romance standalone novels about life lessons that break all the rules. Some lessons are more fun when learned the hard way.... What’s the first rule of nurse’s club? That’s right: Never date a doctor. Which Sasha Suvorin has no intention of doing anyway, since she’s a nurse at Rutherford Hospital by day and working on her master’s degree by night. Summary
Dr. Bethany Winstead hasn't had time to sign off on love. Dr. Luca Michaelson thinks settling down is a noose. But one night in the ER might bring the love that sets them free.
Rising-star surgical resident Luca Michaelson thinks no one can ever get to his heart, content to live in the world of after-work flings and bar hopping. Until he bumps into a brunette who comes to his hospital one night assisting an severely injured patient.
Unexpected visiting surgical resident Bethany Winstead is a workaholic, totally focused on following her dreams, and has not time for the bad boys in the hospital she's worked in throughout her tenure.
But there's one who caught her attention....
Dr. Luca Michaelson, the bad boy of the ER who knows every female employee in the hospital but no one has gotten him figured out yet.
Is Dr. Winstead willing to lower her guard and listen to her first mind telling her love is here, or will her deep-rooted issues of insecurity and the potential backlash if the truth is discovered keep her from a happily-ever-after?
This is a sweet/clean bad boy medical romance with no cliffhangers and a guaranteed HEA; one way or another.

A quick but enjoyable 4.5 stars listen!
My Spoiler Free Review
What I enjoyed most about this Medical Romance novel…
Easy-to-read / Page-turner (Absorbing & quick listen) / Hospital culture / HEA
Ratings:
Story Rating: 4.5 stars!
If you like a quick dip into a medical romance, then this novella will work for you as it did for me. I listened while I hung ceiling hooks for my roommate the Sunday following Thanksgiving.
I really enjoyed getting a glimpse into hospital culture - the jargon, the dynamic between the staff on duty, learning about patient treatments and how these medical professional deal sought out physical and emotional companionship. I, for one, can't imagine dating or marrying a doctor. Their rotation schedules are insane. How any of them maintain a healthy romantic relationship with someone who isn't also a medical professional is beyond me.
Performance Rating: 5 stars!
David George has a very nice voice and great acting instincts. I'm looking forward to listening to future audiobooks narrated by him.
Overall Rating: 4.5 stars!
I liked how Dr. Luca Michaelson's instant lust at first sight attraction to Dr. Bethany Winstead set off a chain of interactions that moved him from being a bad boy, casual sex only kind of guy to a guy who could claim her as a girlfriend, previously a dirty word in a way to him. He needed someone who was his equal professionally and could inspire him to mature emotionally enough to commit to a romantic relationship.
Final Thoughts:
This is a very short novella that could be potentially lengthened but worked just fine for me as a nice palette cleanser. Sometimes I don't need all the explicit sex scenes and just want to see how a couple connects without those hot details over and over. This one hit the spot perfectly. I'd recommend it to readers who are short on time but want a quick steam-light medical romance.

Short and sweet
Have you ever listened to a book and thought “this is moving so friggin slow”? Well, this one doesn’t. Like- there’s no phone calls with mooning over the guy to her girlfriends (it’s from the guys POV) or guys sitting around drowning their sorrows. Stuff happens but it’s written like “he spends the next week being a juice box” or “they had sex six times that week and then-“ so there’s no filler. There’s no emotional attachment but it’s still the story you want. Like an abridged version of something that could be more.
So- the roundup
Sex- side note and nothing more
Juice box guys- honestly I don’t even know
Trachea by straw just like on TV- 1. Yes, in this super short story, they found time to give someone a Trachea with a straw. Impressive.

Miscommunication is easily solved
Just Bae is a new author to me. Before I located him on Facebook I did not know what his style of writing was.
When I started this story I felt that there was something off. I did not know if it is the style of writing or the narration but something had be thinking. Come to find out it is the style.
Since there are a handful of characters I did not understand why the author continued to keep repeating the name of the characters. For instance: 'Luca Michaelson has a problem.... however Luca had first preceded them as the perfect couple since then Luca has never selected down.' Within these two sentences Luca is mentioned three times. When the author started using he or she instead of repeatedly stating the names of the characters I started to enjoy this story.
I did enjoy Bethany. She was not the type of person who 3as running around with all of the other doctors. Luca seemed to not want talk to Bethany about their relationship. Because she did not have grown up time with him fast in a hurry she felt she did not like him. There was miscommunication on his part that did not need to happen.
I am glad there is a happy ending but I wish there was more to thos story. This story is a novella so be prepared for it to stop when you want just a bit more.

This a cute short story about 2 trauma surgeons. The story flowed perfectly and didn’t seem too rushed as you normally hear in short stories. I love hospital romances so this was right up my ally. Short and Sweet
I just got this story about 90 minutes ago. LOL This is a sweet story about two surgeons falling in love, a miscommunication and some immaturity. I was slightly frustrated a couple of times because the narration wasn't well edited (repeating the same thing), however David did a good job. I wouldn't consider this a 5 star book, however, I think it might be one my 72 yr old mom might enjoy since it is a clean and sweet romance.
