Summary

Introducing George Markham, lately of the 65th Regiment of Foot, now Lieutenant of Marines on His Britannic Majesty’s frigate Hebe. Irishman, papist, reputed coward; he is a man with something to prove.

As the winter of 1793 comes to the Mediterranean coast of France, so too does the chill wind of the Revolutionary terror. When the Hebe is sent to help the Bourbon city of Toulon, Markham will have to prove he is a worthy officer of Marines…or die in the attempt.

Good story, Nice voice

This is a good series, well worth a listen. It is a shame more were not written.

The narration is good, the reader has a nice voice. Accents a little limited.

Story ok and narration fine, but

…the recording is poor and keeps stopping for no apparent reason. If I had the chance to listen to more I could have rated it higher as I am a fan of David Donachie

One of the best

I have over many years listened to many audio recordings. This is for me one of the most gripping with almost constant action. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was sad when it came to an end

Great Start

If the rest of the series is written as well ,I am looking forward to reading them. A great big of escapism and written so that you feel part of the crew.
