Summary
Her choice is to serve or die. In the aftermath of shattered innocence, will the hunt for her magic claim her last breath?
Zerina Redfearn is naïve to the world's cruelty. So when she and her sisters are dragged from their home and put on trial for witchcraft, she’s horrified to be trapped between being enslaved in the king’s forces or execution. But after witnessing her siblings' cruel deaths, she unleashes her powers for the first time and makes her escape.
Joining two refugees in fleeing to the perilous ocean with enemy ships in hot pursuit, Zerina wields her gifts against deadly threats even though each use torments her body. And as she pays an agonizing price by aging prematurely, she fears she won’t reach the cure seen in a vision before she perishes.
Can Zerina turn the tide on a crippling future?
A Sea of Sorrow and Scorn is the gripping second book in the Tales of Levanthria fantasy-retelling series. If you like dangerous quests, good girls gone badass, and relentless action, then you’ll love A.P. Beswick’s windswept adventure.

Narrator
I loved the first book and couldn’t wait for this one but unfortunately the high pitched whistle during the pronunciation of every word containing an “s” from Michela made this audible unbearable. Very unfortunate.

Still listening at a push
I’m afraid the female narrator is dreadful. Poor inflection, lack of feeling and beyond irritating. I’m actually struggling to listen to the chapters she narrates. It’s ruining the story line for me, as I tune into how poor she is rather than listening to the story. I hope this is the only book she is involved with. I will certainly check before using credits to buy anymore of this series.

Brilliant Pirate Story
I bought this book after finishing the first one in a day and I loved every last minute of this story. It tells the pirate journey in a brilliant way and has such an interesting and unique magic system and world building.

Loved it
I love how they tied it into the first book. You can tell it’s building up to something in the next book. I loved that they used different narrators too

Meh. Ok story, but slept through most of it.
I ‘listened’ to most of this book as I went to sleep. The female narrator chapters were horrible, even slowed down the narration was robotic and lacked depth. The male narrator chapters were much better, but not enough to keep me engaged in the story. Rarely did I replay chapters because I felt I missed something from the story after a 15-30 minutes setting a ‘sleep timer.’ Not sure if I’ll continue with this series.

Not very good
Story is just bad. Cookie cutter characters with no development. Nothing original or intriguing about this one. The bad choice of titles should have been the clue to skip this one. Halfway through and it bored me to death…..

Could be better
Good story overall. Started out great but lost steam halfway through. Needs more time to flesh out the world created, could’ve really expanded on magic and how it came to be and why it was outlawed. Overall it was good but I was hoping for more

Ending a bit rushed
Overall very good, I can't wait for the next in series to come out on Audible. I just wish a little more time was taken with the ending. Lots to unpack!
