Summary
Best-selling author Amy Clipston compellingly unfolds the tensions, loves, and faith of the inhabitants of an Amish community and the family bakery that serves as an anchor point for the series in this unabridged audio of A Promise of Hope, the second installment in the Kauffman Amish Bakery series.
When Sarah Troyer tragically loses her husband, Peter, she is left to raise infant twins alone. Overwhelmed and grieving, she lives with her parents in the Amish community of Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania. Sarah is taken completely by surprise when a stranger arrives claiming connections to Peter’s past—Peter had told her he was an orphan with no family. From Luke, she learns her husband hid a secret life, one with ramifications that will change her own.
Sarah's family, concerned for her and the future of her twins, encourages her to marry again. It should make sense - but Sarah’s heart says no. She feels trapped. Should she marry a man she doesn't love? Or discover if her growing interest in Luke can be trusted?
A Promise of Hope is filled with surprising twists that will grip you to the very last words.

Great story terrible Dutch annunciation
I loved this story… I couldn’t stand the audio story tellers annunciation of Dutch words! Ahh every time she said Nadine or Thankyou in Dutch I cringed she said it almost in a way that seemed like she didn’t care to just google how to use a few words in Dutch… however the author has other Amish books I have listened too and those audio voice all knew how to pronounce Dutch words just fine… I’m no expert in Dutch but I was raised using please Thankyou and your welcome in Dutch and I’m sure my grandparents used other phrases that I jsut didn’t pick up on but they are not hard to say… Dunke done not sound like DINKEY with a stress on the y and the authors needs to pay attention to how her voices are portraying her books

More new friends
Loved . The characters were realistic, true with their emotions. They developed as the storyline did.

Good book, bad narrator.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This was a good story. The author does a good job. But the narrator was terrible. No change in voices and way too much emphasis on EVERY sentence!
How could the performance have been better?
A narrator who is able to voice different characters so that you can tell who is speaking and also does not read every sentence as if it has an exclamation mark at the end of it!

Tragic Romantic Love Story
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes.
If you’ve listened to books by Amy Clipston before, how does this one compare?
Very Good.
Which scene was your favorite?
Hard to say the story was so sorrowful.
Do you think A Promise of Hope needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
I believe there are several more books already in print.
Any additional comments?
I couldn't give the book a 5 star rating but nevertheless I will most likely read/listen to the rest of the series out of curiosity.

a book in the slow lane
The plot is elementary and predictable, very simplistic with no depth or intrique. The fist book in the series was much more interesting which made this one disappointing. Too bad the author did not involve more of the characters we met in the first book.
