Summary
One ghost from the past. Two unknown Australian monsters eating people. Three men who won’t let either problem win.
Familiars of choice, healing old wounds, Australian mythology (yes, Nico and Wicky are in Australia): it goes about as well as anyone could expect.
With giant amphibians of unusual size that stump even the MAD research department, Wicky may have summoned Godzilla (in his defense he was left unsupervised).
The next time they have to travel to a different continent Bel is drugging Nico first...

I'm loving the 3 narrators
Technically it's four but I'm not counting Wicky unless he becomes a partner. Though I am hoping he hooks up with Granddaddy Demon.
In this one the fellas travel to Australia to fight unknown (but not giant frogs, alas) creatures who are eating humans.
While there Bel runs into his first familiar and finally gets closure. Bel, Nico, and Garen all become closer and that just warms the heart.
At the end of this one, Wicky moves next door to the group and shenanigans ensue.
I loved the triple narration. I know it has to be more expensive but it works so well. Tim, Greg, Michael, and Cooper did a good job.

Loved it!
This second book in the series. I loved listening to it even more than when I read it. The narrators did an excellent job.

Love the MCs, great followup, seamless performance
I'm always a little reticent about the second book in a series, especially when I enjoyed the first book so much, but I liked this storyline--and I usually don't always like this particular storyline (ex involvement). AJ made that all disappear in this book by keeping true to all of her characters--and not making it about only 2 people. Everyone gets to play and everyone has strengths, except this villain--who makes a fool of himself. He's the type of character who makes a lot of bad life choices because he's such a hothead, but that only endangers people who are weak--and none of these people are weak. That's tricky to pull off when conflict makes the story. Equality at last, in a very diverse personality way. Congrats for pulling that off AJ.
Another great writing trick of AJ's is writing about poly relationships and not making you squirm in discomfort. Her presentation of this relationship is just as seamless as everything else about her books, as if everything is normal and we should expect to live this accepting and . . . just working within our talents, gifts, and dreams--as a team. This is the ultimate answer for the survival of humankind, after all. Separatism spells death for all, and all that.
Multiple characters are tough for one voice, and often this becomes a problem for authors/narrators working with large teams of actors in one military scene, but these three narrators together didn't feel like three different people. I found that interesting, more like fascinating. Their voices are very similar in the narrative (not the dialogue, which is best with a lot of diversity in voices in many large crowd scenes--even with just a handful of players at a time--it makes writing these scenes much more dialogue filled, rather than described or explained). Not very many single narrators can pull off multiple voices and multiple dialects from around the world in a single book, but there are a few gifted narrators who can. What I found the most interesting is that I'm pretty sure all four of these narrators can pull that off, singly. Together in this book they make this seamless. And the acting isn't overdone. Total flow.

An Excellent Quad of Narrators
I loved reading this book but the audio just brought everything to life so well! This is the second book in a series that must be read or listened to in ordered.

Love the Narrators
All voices are wonderful and draw you into the story. The story is witty and delightful. Everyone poking fun at Nico and all of Nico's reactions to practically everything is hilarious! They made me giggle a lot. 😄
