About this listen
Pru Plum is the owner of a famous Mayfair bakery. She wears Chanel and her hair is expensively cut. Few would believe that she turned sixty-six last year. But Pru is not the confident, successful businesswoman she appears. She has done shameful things to get to where she is today. And she will do anything to protect the secrets of her past - especially now she has finally fallen in love...

Escapism At Its Best.
Such a lovely listen, with lots of 'twists and turns' A perfect antidote to 'Covid'. Was transported.

Such a lovely story
I really enjoyed this book, I listened to it on holiday and found myself wanting to absorb every word. Whereas some stories take a while to get into a big high or low this book goes there quite early so you can be gripped by how everything unfolds. Great narration too.

A deep, thoroughly fascinating story
I enjoyed the twists and turns of this well written book. The narrator is spot on and I couldn’t wait to hear the next part as I read it.

an easy read
Prue runs a first class patisserie which is her life, then life starts to intrude. l enjoyed myself reading about her more mature years which are often left alone in writing and felt that it was dealt with in just the right way.

Really struggled with this one out of the series..
So glad I persevered although it took me 9 attempts...... it was worth it in the end. I absoutley love Amanda Prowse and have all her audible books, to start with I would only listen to the ones that Amanda read but over time I've listened to others read her books but they all niggle me!!!!! This was part of a series so I had to listen to it in order at one stage I was tempted to leave it out but glad I didn't. x

Stick with it
Takes a little while to get into story, but ends up being a rather good read.

A wasted credit!
SO disappointed.! Amanda Prowse is one of my favourite authors and I wasn't able to get passed 1/2 way through chapter 3 because of the irritating rhythm of speech of the narrator.
Amanda usually narrates her own books which is a treat as she will be very aware of where to place the emphasis of certain words. This narrator talked too fast and sped up in each sentence - I was not able to follow the story at all. I will certainly avoid any books narrated by Julia Franklin in future!
