Summary
In July 1983, James Morgan Kane returned home in the evening to find a corpse in his living room. Fearing that he would be held responsible, and sensing that his wife was involved, he wanted to do all he could to protect his young family. Jamie worked through the night to dispose of the body. But his luck ran out days later, as he was arrested and sentenced to 13 years in prison.
Jamie entered the American prison system and was to stay there for 34 years with stints in San Quentin, Folsom State Prison and the notorious Deuel Vocational Institution in California. He would rub shoulders with some of the world's most infamous serial killers and gangs. This book tells of his time locked up with no hope of release, living the brutality of the tough and unforgiving American penitentiary system and finding his new purpose in life.

Something doesn’t seem right!
This guy likes to think he’s one step ahead of everyone in prison and the outside world yet when it came to the murder that put him in jail, he suddenly turned into an inept bumbling fool who got played by his sister and wife. I don’t buy it.

not much going on.
what a dummy taking the murder charge, the woman would have gotten 1/3 of his sentence and would have been a holiday camp for her. he takes the charge and gets life but is promised 12 years by lawyers. he seemed like he was intelligent so why take her murder rap?

You can't choose your family...
Well there's so much I could say but I think the best way to sum up this story is 'the wrong place at the wrong time'...excellently narrated & I've gotta say this is a story of a man that won't sell out or be broken. He was dealt a dirty hand from day 1! served "his country" then got spat out & trodden on. You can't keep a good man down & this guy is a good man, in my opinion. Oh & I hope Dr Whitmore is feeling the prong of Satan's tale in hell!

One for the bin
I would give this audiobook no stars if I could. Anyone giving this five stars would believe anything ., I have never heard so much made up rubbish haha. Rambo goes to jail. This guy can tell some whoppers. How he can single-handedly take out everyone in prison he has been in. There’s plenty of other amazing books that should make it onto Audible but put this BS on here lmao

Not a Prison Book
Although an horrific story and this man has been through a lot, other than the parole system not much to learn about American Prison. Still a good story, just not what I thought it would be.
