Summary

No one was ever meant to see her at 214 Palmer Street....

When Maggie sees the beautiful Venetian blinds moving in the Caldwells' front window, she freezes. Her favorite neighbors Cady and Josh are away, so who is in their house?

The pretty young woman who answers the door tells a convincing story. She's Sarah. The house-sitter. Just here for a month. An old friend of Cady's who needed a place to stay. She's pleasant and warm, and Maggie wanders back to her house thinking she might have made a new friend. Yet she can't help but wonder why Cady never mentioned Sarah.

What Maggie doesn't know is that on the other side of the door, Sarah is starting to panic. No one was meant to see her at 214 Palmer Street....

A psychological thriller from number one best seller Karen McQuestion that will make you question what secrets your own neighbors are hiding.... For fans of The Girl on the Train, The Woman in the Window, and Gone Girl.

Just OK

The narration was good, but the story was just OK. It is a fairly predictable and forgettable story, definitely not "completely gripping" or "packed with suspense". The motive for murder and the subsequent cover up is weak and doesn't make much sense. There is nothing compelling in this story.

It had potential. Gave 4 stars for effort

As always there will be no spoilers in my reviews
Oh boy was I disappointed. The book had great potential. Narration was Super (huge plus ). Had the narration not been up to my standards I would have left this book alone. Where to begin. It wasn’t psychological, it was hardly a mystery as I figured it out less than half way through. The story was solid. It just didn’t cut it for me. Not so bad that o couldn’t listen but by the time I had 3-4 chapters left , I couldn’t have cared less. (Not a good sign ). Not familiar with this author but I would try another of theirs , I’m not sure what it needed besides a harder plot to figure out. But it was just shy of something. Hence why I would give the author another shot.

I’ve spoke already on the narration but I need to add that it was good. Pretty darn good. Narration can make or break a book for me. This narrator was skilled , mindful and rather enjoyable to listen to.

Author and editor to blame for this half-baked book.

As Karen created the outline for this book I’m sure that she knew it was a winner. I’m equally sure that the outline was a winner. The completed novel is not. I blame the disjointed mess of a plot line equally on her and her editor. Throughout it seemed each critical element of the story had to be explained almost parenthetically with explanatory notes and details that should have been woven into the plot line earlier. Calling this a psychological thriller is a misnomer of the first order. I’ve read and enjoyed other KMcQ books. This genre is not her forte. Part way through it I came to believe it must be her first novel. When I checked and found that it was her newest I concluded that it must have been rushed to publication without serious editing or reflection by the author.

Good story, hard to listen to

The story is good, but the narration is so hard to listen to that it made the story difficult to enjoy. The character of Kirk is especially awkward sounding.
