Born in Perth, Western Australia, the son of two journaists. Has been a ferry skipper, adventure tour guide, geology field assistant, publican, kayak designer, and quality control technician for the Swan Brewery (true!). He writes full time and in his spare time is sailing, kayaking or sitting in the spa. His short stories and poetry have been published in anthologies and he is an irregular travel writer. His novels are set in the Australian outback but touch on topics of universal appeal. The Canoe and Kayak Guide to WA, and Island Life, a natural history of Penguin Island, are his two non fiction books.
