William "Scott" Morrison has been chasing the get-rich-quick American Dream for many decades while writing stories and songs on the side. Now in his late youth, he is channelling a lifelong interest in politics and history into telling the story of the times through historical fiction. Luck of the Draw, his second novel, follows the lives of the same characters who in his first novel, The Energy Caper, or Nixon in the Sky with Diamonds, thrive in a luckier world where there was no Vietnam war. He lives quietly with his wife in the wine country of California. Luck of the Draw--coming in 2016 Morrison's forthcoming novel is the story of an era that changed a nation, from the ballfields of Little League in the conservative Fifties to the Summer of Love and the radical Sixties to the last days of the Vietnam war in the Seventies. It follows the lives of the same four idealistic boomers in The Energy Caper as they become adults in the real world during a turbulent time of Cold War paranoia, assassinations, women's liberation, civil rights marches, hippies, free love, anti-war protests and of course sex and drugs and the greatest rock 'n' roll. Day Job While trying to learn a new chord one day shortly after picking up the guitar he had a brainstorm for a poster that put everything you needed to know about the guitar up on your wall. So instead of finally going to law school, he decided to try to get rich quick and founded a company to publish The Guitar Poster™. He figured to give it a couple of years, then retire to write the great American novel on a yacht anchored off the Riviera. He never did get rich, but over the decades he produced a series of music posters which helped millions learn to play, and the world was spared another lawyer.
