Trish Bartley has been involved in Mindfulness Based Approaches in the UK since 1999. John Teasdale has been a significant mentor, and Mark Williams and Jon Kabat-Zinn have been important influences. She is a senior teacher at the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice (CMRP) at Bangor University, UK and leads workshops and retreats at home in the UK and overseas. Mindfulness: A Kindly Approach to Being with Cancer was written for people with cancer themselves. Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Cancer is a handbook for mindfulness teachers. MBCT for cancer has been developed over 20 years of clinical work with people with cancer. Trish's background is in development work. She has strong links with South Africa and has supported an NGO to bring accessible mindfulness to local people living in remote villages in the KwaZulu Natal mountains. Trish has a new book for mindfulness teachers - Teaching Mindfulness-Based Teachers, that she co-wrote with Gemma Griffith. It was published on June 13th 2022.
