Robin Jarvis was born three weeks late on a sofa in Liverpool in 1963. As a child he loved reading scary stories and was disappointed if no one died in them, something he was determined to make up for when he started writing his own. His first book "The Dark Portal" was published in 1989, a tale about mice and rats and of course it contained lots of juicy deaths - and yet was still shortlisted for the Smarties Prize. Since then, Robin has written many dark fantasy novels for young adults and enjoys keeping the reader guessing so that they never know what is going to happen next - or who will survive to the end. Robin Jarvis lives in Greenwich, London, in a boringly haunted house, boring because the ghost is only ever heard to walk down the stairs and so far hasn't done anything remotely frightening. Robin's hair has turned white naturally.Read more Read less
