Rebecca Lisle has been writing and illustrating stories since she was little, in fact, according to her mother, she was trying to tell stories before she could even speak. She has lived in France, the USA and Australia and is now settled in Bristol with her husband and three sons - although they are almost fully fledged and the third and youngest is soon leaving home. Her boys were the inspiration for THE DOG IN THE DIAMOND COLLAR, THE BOY IN THE BIG BLACK BOX and THE GNOME WITH THE KNOBBLY NOSE. Rebecca is planning on writing more books when the house is empty and also traveling to Italy as much as she can. CRYSTAL is her latest book and is published on 5th August 2010. The idea for this book came from the peculiar circular lake in Ashton Park near Rebecca's home in Bristol. CRYSTAL is a rather unhappy character who is trapped in a grey, dull world where the buildings are all dilapidated, there are few trees and no freedom. She longs to escape, to find her way home, wherever that may be. One day she sees a face looking up at her through the dirty water of the strange round lake. Is this is help she's been hoping for? Rebecca frequently visits schools talking about her work, reading from her books and giving creative writing workshops.Read more Read less
