Peter L. Stavinoha, PhD, ABPP, is a board certified clinical neuropsychologist with more than 20 years experience working with children and parents. Dr. Stavinoha directed the Pediatric Neuropsychology Service at Children's Medical Center of Dallas and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center for many years, and he is now Professor of Behavioral Pediatrics at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Children's Cancer Hospital in Houston. Dr. Stavinoha advocates for a common sense approach to parenting informed by years of clinical experience and expertise with brain development and functioning. Dr. Stavinoha has received numerous awards for his work including being named Distinguished Psychologist for 2005 by the Dallas Psychological Association, and he was awarded Psychologist of the Year in 2014 by the Texas Psychological Association. In addition to his clinical work and research, Dr. Stavinoha has made hundreds of contributions to TV, radio, online, and print media outlets discussing topics encompassing child development, child mental health, and parenting.
