Specialized in dementia, I am a health educator and a licensed residential care administrator with a passion for ensuring that people affected with degenerative neurological conditions receive the best care available and live with joy and dignity. With over 30 years of experience in memory care, I have provided guidance to thousands of families through my work as a care consultant for the Alzheimer's Association. My goal is to empower the caregivers attending our workshops and support groups, and to inform the public at large through the publishing of books and articles with real-world findings from our practice in memory care. Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, I live in California where I also serve as the Community Services Director for Villa Alamar, our model memory care community in Santa Barbara. My love for travel, though, continues to take me to far corners of the world, particularly those where the ocean waters are warm and the snorkeling allows for chance encounters with large marine creatures... which I find fascinating!
