Lisa Stalvey started cooking in 1978 professionally, and took it very seriously in 1980 after getting a job at Ma Maison with Wolfgang Puck. She joined him again at Spago in 1983 and became his head chef in 1986. Lisa traveled, consulted, cooked privately and tried acting only to return to the restaurant scene in 1993 after returning from Iceland as executive chef at Bambu, Malibu- the hottest spot in Malibu from the moment it opend until 1998. She won 2 awards for one of the TOP 100 Chef's in NORTHERN AMERICA as one of the leaders in the culinary arts in the new millennium. While at Bambu, she met Paul Newman only to move on to co-write 2 cookbooks; Paul newman's Cookbook and The Hole in the Wall Cookbook for children. Lisa Also developed 2 products for Newman's Own. After this 2 year project, she started her own catering businesses; The Malibu Chef and Malibu Catering. Food, Sex, Wine and Cigars: a memoir chronicals her troubles at the start of her career- the loss of her three fingers in an industrial type of Cuisinart which was complictaed by a previous abortion. These 2 unfortunate situations- one she had control over and the she did not- brought on a 12 year battle with anorexia which began in 1980 and ended- sort of- in 1992. During her writing, truly was able to heal.
