About the Author Kim Hopkins has been a contractor for over 40 years. He is the owner of a 30-person contracting company, and Happy Contractor, a company that specializes in website design, internet marketing, and consulting for contractors in the United States and Canada. Having achieved financial freedom himself, he now works with contractors to help them achieve their contracting and financial goals. Kim is now semi-retired. His contracting company continues to generate a large profit while mostly running on “automatic pilot.” Kim says this is due to the skilled and highly motivated team members who work each day in the field and office. One key to Kim’s success has been building his own contractor website in 1996, in the early days of the Internet. When the website became a major source of new customers, Kim founded the internet marketing company, Happy Contractor, which builds websites for fellow contractors throughout the U.S. and Canada. It also provides a full range of consulting and internet marketing services for contractors. In one-on-one consultations, Kim has helped other contractors to salvage or expand their businesses. He found that many face the same challenges that he had initially faced as a contractor. During a couple of decades in the “school of hard knocks,” Kim learned the mechanics of building a contracting company that turns a profit while providing quality service to customers and good jobs for employees. Kim has now written a simple, easy-to-understand book that covers in detail every aspect of contracting. Million Dollar Contracting includes tips and principles for avoiding the many pitfalls which contractors face or for salvaging a company that is floundering.
