K. N. Palmer, otherwise known as Kevin, has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over twenty-five years, holding senior positions in UK & global, sales and marketing roles. However, when he was made redundant in 2015, a recurring dream sparked an idea for his pacey debut novel - ‘BRoken EXIT’. With the European referendum still a way off, but offering a divisive back drop to his idea, Kevin tried to envision what life may be like in a post-BREXIT Britain. Having worked with wonderful people from many different countries and cultures, Kevin decided to create a dystopian world where a newly elected political party drive a deep wedge between communities, the 'Leavers' and the 'Remainers'. A scourge of intolerance develops at every level of society. Kevins interest was less around the politicking that goes on within Westminster, but focused on the impact of individuals in the human race. In thinking about the direction of travel for the UK as a whole, he became obsessed with what that may mean for ordinary, hard working folks, not just British nationals, but those that settled here from overseas seeking a better life and how it may drive some to take matters into their own hands. Deciding to set his story in Nottingham, where he attended University back in the late 1980s, the main characters take you on a tour of some of the lesser well known parts of the city, that he remembers fondly from his time there as a student. Hunted by would be assassins, its a story of cat and mouse as the new Prime Minister has been targeted by terrorists and his protector has some very stern views to share with him as they evade those chasing them. Now in his fifties, Kevin has lived in a small village in Suffolk for over twenty years, where there is a great community spirit. He is married with three children and a family Labrador that will literally eat anything. Outside of working full time and developing a taste for writing, he is a huge Formula 1 fan, loves to walk and run, completing the London Marathon back in 2005. With years of travelling with his work, he has often met famous people, but hilariously had no idea who 'Flo Rida' was when sitting next to him at the poolside in Miami back in 2012! Kevin, most definitely is not a politician and cannot predict the future. He does though have a few other ideas for stories that he promises to get started on very soon.
