Julie Lawson Timmer grew up in Stratford, Ontario, Canada, and graduated from McMaster University before earning a law degree from Southern Methodist University in Texas. After spending many exhausting years in Ann Arbor, Michigan, balancing a legal career with raising four children, Julie moved with her husband to Palm Springs, California, where she is still writing, and teaching about writing. FIVE DAYS LEFT (Putnam 2014) is her first novel. Her second is UNTETHERED (Putnam 2016), and MRS. SAINT AND THE DEFECTIVES (Lake Union 2017) is her third.
