Born a farmer's daughter on the Isle of Wight, the countryside, the people and animals are very close to my heart. My father was a great historian and often told stories about the local Island history. This was the inspiration for writing On Gallows Hill. A book loosely based on a Isle of Wight character, Michal Morey, who lived in the 17th century in Arreton. I learnt of the story from my father. My love of writing enables me to record my thoughts and influences. I tend to lose myself in day dreams which enables me to write. I love to write about a subject that enthrals me! A Stable Life, my second novel, is based upon influences and experiences from the countryside and its people. My love of horses was the inspiration. This contemporary fiction involves the world of Three Day Eventing. The second edition is available. I am delighted that A Stable Life was nominated for the People's Book Prize in the Summer of 2013. My third novel, Dream Cottage, is a tale of a young couple who find a rundown old farmhouse, negotiate to purchase it and, whilst it is undergoing renovations, they uncover strange paranormal activity, with unusual consequences. A spooky tale with a twist! My fifth novel is something completely different! It is called 'Humphrey Finds His Feet' and is a children's book. It is aimed at the 5 to 8 year olds and introduces, Humphrey, the horse who loves to dance. He was born in France however one day, his owner ships him off to the UK. He has as been bought by Henry and his family. Humphrey is unhappy at leaving his friends in France and decides to be naughty. He is soon made to realise this is not the way to behave and with the help of Divebomba, the hen, he learns to dance. It is available as ebook and paperback. Book 2 of The Adventures of Humphrey series - 'Humphrey Comes to the Rescue' involves Humphrey raising the alarm when an elderly neighbour is suddenly taken ill. Humphrey, along with his animal friends, want to raise funds for the local hospital to pay for vital equipment. As Humphrey is a keen dancer, a Dance All Night event is arranged. Streamed on the Internet and a fundraising donations page set up, the event goes viral! It is a story of how a group of animals came together and of what can be achieved if you put your mind to it. An uplifting story, suitable for 6-8 year olds. Available as e-book and paperback. My latest novel, All Hallows Ledge is due for release in Autumn 2023. An historical novel based on the Isle of Wight in the eighteenth century involves the illicit trade of contraband goods, smuggled and distributed throughout the Island. The protagonist, Kitty, is a wild, untamed, smuggler's daughter who is looking for the love of her life. When asked by her Pa to find work to help pay towards the next haul of goods, she reluctantly finds work in a local inn and her quest to find a suitor is fraught with heartache and trouble.
