Award winning food writer and podcaster, Gilly Smith is a food activist and early adopter in British food podcasting. She won The Guild of Food Writers Best Broadcast/Podcast Award in 2022 for Cooking the Books with Gilly Smith, and was nominated for a Fortnum and Masons award for the podcast in the same year. She won the GFW Investigative Food Award for Right2Food, the Food Foundation's podcast in 2021. She was commended by the GFW for How to Eat to Save the Planet podcast in 2021.She was nominated for a Fortnum and Mason award in 2017 for the delicious. podcast. She won the 2020 UK Food Writer Gourmand Award for Taste and the TV Chef: how storytelling can save the planet. She is the producer and presenter of Cooking the Books with Gilly Smith and The Write Songs. She also presents and produces The Food Foundation’s Right2Food podcast, the delicious. podcast and Leon’s How to Eat to Save the Planet. She is the producer of Philip Lymbery’s The Big Table. Initially a radio and TV producer, she has written many books, mainly about the influence of culture of food in its various forms, as well as articles for the national press and academic journals, largely about food, philosophy and ethical travel.
