Georgeann Packard is a fiction writer and landscape photographer. She also designs and installs gardens on Long Island’s North Fork. Together with her spouse, Dianne, she is currently creating a lake house on Toddy Pond in Maine, the perfect writer’s retreat. Her first novel, Fall Asleep Forgetting, was a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award in 2010 in two categories. Kirkus hailed her second book, Paint the Bird, as “brilliantly imagined and rendered.” Packard's third novel, "The Occupation of Zaima," explores the emotional and spiritual state of Zaima al-Aziz, an Iraqi American who has just come home from the chaos that is the Iraq War. She becomes entangled with Theodore Dash, a young man returning to his boyhood summer paradise in northern Michigan after the death of his grandfather. Their lives collide in dramatic and unpredictable ways as they both struggle to unravel who they are and why they are bound so uncomfortably together.
