Eric Carlson recently retired as Dean’s Executive Professor of Entrepreneurship in the Santa Clara University (SCU), Leavey School of Business, and as the Director of the Global Social Benefit Incubator (GSBI™). Prior to his 15 year association with SCU, Carlson spent 25 years in research, product development, and executive management in the Silicon Valley. During that time he served as CEO of two software companies. While working in Silicon Valley, he also served 10 years on the Los Gatos Town Council, including two terms as Mayor. Carlson has a BA (Economics) from Carleton College in Minnesota, and an MS (City and Regional Planning) and PhD (Computer Science) from the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill). Eric married the former Marilyn Garbisch in 1967; she is a professional musician. After 6 years in Chapel Hill, NC, they have lived in Los Gatos, CA, and spend summers on Ten Mile Lake in Minnesota. They have two children and four grandchildren.
