Efua Traoré is a Nigerian-German author of books for children and young adults which have been translated into numerous languages. She won the Times-ChickenHouse prize, the Commonwealth Short Story Prize, the Zilveren Griffel, was shortlisted for the Waterstone Children’s Book Prize and her book was The Times Children’s Book of the Year. Efua grew up in a small town in Nigeria. For as long as she can remember, her head was filled with little stories and songs, but it was not until much later that she began to write them down. She currently lives in Munich where she daydreams and writes in English and in German. If she had her way, she would travel much more and write every single day.
