Born in Duisburg, the author Dirk Trost regularly spent his summer holidays in East Friesland as a young boy and spent the summer reading the adventure stories of Enid Blyton, Erich Kästner and, on long winter evenings, his grandfather's "forbidden" crime thrillers and westerns, the ones at the very back were hidden in the closet. What could be more obvious than the desire to write an adventure story yourself, or better still, a detective novel. First, however, followed school and extensive professional training in the nursing area, in which Dirk Trost worked his entire career: first as a nurse and physiotherapist, then as a specialist nurse for intensive care and anesthesia, and then switched to nursing management, where he worked for over twenty-five years Managed senior residences and, at the same time, advised, trained and accompanied managers on management issues as consultants and mentors. In parallel to his job, Dirk Trost wrote for several years as a freelancer for regional newspapers and published his first book, a specialist book on quality management in inpatient care for the elderly. Despite his professional career, the desire to write a crime thriller had never left him and he turned to his old childhood dream and began working on his first Jan de Fries crime novel. There was no question where the thriller was supposed to take place - it could only be East Frisia. Like his character Jan de Fries, author Dirk Trost lives currently in Ostfriesland at the coast of the Northern Sea, behind the dike. Originally, “Granat for Greetsiel” was not planned as a series, but due to the huge, unexpected success and the steadily growing fan base, the author put the idea of a second Jan de Fries story on paper faster than planned, which he had been through for years Head haunted. The crime series with Jan, his fat dog Motte and his friends Uz, Onno, Greta and Holli, to name just a few of the popular and typically East Frisian characters, was born and has enjoyed great popularity since the first volume. In parallel to the series about the Greetsiel lawyer Jan de Fries, author Dirk Trost published “Tango in Lisbon”, a novel from the world of Tango Argentino, about the passionate dance of the Rio de la Plata, the love of dance and the courage to dare to try new things tells. Since the author has meanwhile completely shifted to writing, there was also time to give more space to two favorite characters in the Jan de Fries series with the debut novel “Blutgold”. Jan's daughter Thyra goes her own way as a journalist in her crime series. The young woman is supported by the former chief inspector Folkert Mackensen, whose unorthodox behavior forced him to quit his job in his last case. Since Dirk Trost is not running out of ideas, the author will not only write more books in his two crime series, but will certainly also occasionally make literary excursions into new genres.
