Second Lives: The Journey of Brain Injury Survivors and their Healers is the first book for Ralph B. Lilly, M.D. and Diane F. Kramer. Diane obtained her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Oklahoma State University and her master’s in general-experimental psychology from Southern Methodist University. Her thirty-year counseling and teaching career at Austin Community College introduced her to a diversity of students whose lives were unfathomably difficult. She credits the viewpoint from which she writes to those students who taught her to value perspectives beyond her own. Diane has previously written a column on animal welfare for the Brenham Banner-Press and essays for Alamo Bay Writers Anthologies. Presently, she writes articles and website material for Brenham Lifetime Learning and the Washington County Community Read. Diane enjoys the serenity of life on a small Texas ranch with her husband and rescue dog and cat. Though she’s vexed by armadillos and wild hogs, she often can be heard running outside exclaiming, “Oh, my God, look at that sunrise!”
