Dean Frieders is a practicing municipal attorney and municipal manager in Northern Illinois. During his years of practice, he has been responsible for legal review and approval of billions of dollars of public expenditures, hundreds of millions of square feet of construction, and tens of thousands of acres of public, private and mixed-use development. Dean has been recognized by both the SuperLawyers and Leading Lawyers organizations for his innovative legal work. Dean's family are farmers in Northern Illinois. His family's homestead was sold in the 1960s to pay the inheritance tax that his grandparents faced and could not afford. This injustice was what drove Dean to become a lawyer--to help others make informed, practical decisions. Dean also works as an undergraduate Professor of Leadership, Ethics and Values, teaching Alternative Dispute Resolution and Negotiation.
