Chuck Scott was born on a farm in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, near Vancouver. Forth child of an Irish father and a mother of Swiss extraction he was never very interested in school. Living to roam the fields and forests that surrounded the farmstead, either on foot or horseback, he loved adventure. Cub Scouts, Sea Scouts and eventually Army Cadets nourished this fascination and turned it into a lifelong pursuit. At 13, on a family trip to Ulster, he discovered his other great love; history. Taking a pause from school at 16 to travel and work, he visited all the major cities of western Europe on a hitchhiking trip. He qualified as a Canadian Forces Parachutist and went on to become an infantry skills and fieldcraft instructor. Returning to civilian life he spent 5 seasons as a remote access wildfire suppression specialist, including a stint as a smokejumper (Parachute delivered firefighter in the Yukon). Winters for Chuck was the time to travel and on a visit to Israel in the late 1970s he once again became enamoured with a new adventure; the underwater world. He became a professional Scuba instructor, and taught for several years on Canada's west coast. His study of the martial arts took him to Taiwan and Hong Kong during the following years. As a natural progression of his diving he took up photography and sold his work to galleries and dealers in Vancouver. Following up on an invitation to visit Brazil, he fell in love with the Amazon rainforest and a beautiful Brazilian lady who became his wife. Living between the two countries, he led photographic expeditions into the jungle, and taught modern computer skills in Vancouver. The inspiration for his first book, ‘Never to be Seen’, came in a dream of escaping danger in the jungle. He has many more dreams and many more books in the works. Since 2005 he has lived, with his wife and son, in a small town outside of Vancouver. He now runs a sightseeing company called Wild BC Tours and Guiding, where he shows the world the land he loves. His days are filled with managing his business, writing, and trips back to the rainforest.
