Chris Penhall

Chris Penhall won the 2019 Choc-Lit Search for a Star competition, sponsored by Your Cat Magazine, for her debut novel, The House That Alice Built. It is the first in the Portuguese Paradise series of books, followed by the sequel, New Beginnings at the Little House in the Sun published in 2020 and 2022's The House on the Hill - A Summer in the Algarve, which is the third in the series. All are available in e-book, audio and paperback. Finding Summer Happiness, which is set in Pembrokeshire in South West Wales is available in e-book, audio and paperback, and was published in 2021. Her short story, Lily McKee's Seven Days of Christmas appears in Choc Lit and Ruby Fiction's Cosy Christmas Treats anthology, and The Trifle and Coffee and Cake at Cafe Brazil are included in Sunny Summer Treats, which is raising money for MIND. Born in Neath in South Wales, she has also lived in London and in Portugal. The years she spent in Cascais near Lisbon inspired her first two Portuguese Paradise books, and her love affair with the country, which has now spread to the western Algarve, has prompted her to write The House on the Hill. Childhood memories spent exploring the glorious beaches of the south Wales coast inspired Finding Summer Happiness. She is now writing another novel, this time set in London, which she loves ambling aimlessly around, and is cooking up another in the Portuguese Paradise series for after that. A lover of books, music and cats, she is also an enthusiastic salsa dancer, a keen cook, and loves to travel. She is never happier than when she is gazing at the sea.
