Brian Casey is a writer, health educator and public speaker. Brian was born in Mason City Iowa and grew up in Saint Paul Minnesota, Wauwatosa Wisconsin, and Stillwater Minnesota. He earned a teaching degree from the University of Minnesota. Casey has spent his entire adult working life as an EMT, paramedic, EMS educator and police officer. His latest book, Peer Support Fundamentals: Ask, Listen, Encourage, Follow-Up is a hands-on workbook covering the principles, basic knowledge, and essential peer support skills needed to best support coworkers in mental and emotional distress. Each chapter includes powerful and engaging activities that can be used individually or in a group process to help explore, reinforce and deepen understanding of the concepts presented in the book. This workbook can also be used as initial peer support team training or as ongoing training for existing teams.
