Berni Stevens lives in a tiny, ancient cottage in Hertfordshire – which really will look fabulous when all the work's done! (It's taking a long time). She trained in graphic design and photography. After leaving art college in Sussex, Berni worked first as a book promotions designer and then as a cover designer for most of the big London publishing houses, she's now freelance and designs for both publishers and many self-published authors. She makes sure to leave plenty of time for her writing too, and her various (and extremely varied) hobbies. Berni was a finalist for the RNA Cover Designer of the Year Award both in 2021 and 2023. Having always loved books from an early age, Berni became a huge fan of Agatha Christie's, from the moment she read And Then There Were None, but her love of paranormal fiction blossomed when she read Bram Stoker's Dracula for the very first time. Berni is now on the committee of The Dracula Society – a London-based literary society for fans of Gothic literature, art, film and theatre. Her first full-length novel was a paranormal romance, called Fledgling, which was published in the US in 2011, then retitled, Dance Until Dawn, three years later for its UK debut, followed by the sequel, Revenge is Sweet. Veering away from the paranormal for a while, Berni's first festive RomCom, One Magical Christmas, took some people by surprise - including herself. So much so, that she wrote another RomCom, Izzy's Christmas Star, in 2019, with the sequel, It's Only Rock and Roll, published in March 2022. Berni’s 2021 festive story, Laughing All the Way on the Jingle Bells Express (which is a really long title for a cover designer to come up with) has a cast of many and lots of laughs!
