The one good thing about being born into the sweltering humidity of Houston, is that it forces you to spend some time indoors during summer. Aside from that leading to a childhood full of video games, it also lead Austin Miller to a childhood full of reading and writing. In fact, Austin wrote his first "book" on a dozen or so sticky notes when he was around 10 years old. Growing up Austin read everything he could get my hands on, and like many his age (28 to be exact), a lot of kids grew up to become potheads? No wait, Potterheads...(yeah, that's the one!) After serving a 2 year LDS mission in Buenos Aires, Argentina--Austin also found a love for Spanish Literature. He received his BA at Brigham Young University and then attended The University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada where he received his Master's in Spanish Literature. When you look at Austin's writing, it's hard to say it fits neatly into a mold. It's a dash of pulp, a sprinkle of comic book lore, a pinch of 60's and 70's rockn'roll, and a whole lot of Tolkien and Jk Rowling with buddy cop and gangster flicks in between. Amazon forces authors to place their works into a category, so Austin does. But if it were up to him, they would just be books, platforms that make you think, feel and create. After all, those are the things that make us most human, and in a world with a lot of unwarranted evil and violence--a little more humanity is always a good thing.
