Andrew James Archer, MSW, LCSW is an Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) trained psychotherapist. He is knowledgeable in the realm of psychotropic medications and has worked with individuals suffering from severe and persistent mental health problems for over 10 years. He applies Mindfulness and EMDR interventions to treat rather than simply contain the symptoms of bipolar disorder. Andrew is the author of the 2013 memoir, Pleading Insanity (Archway Publishing from Simon & Schuster). Through honest descriptions of bipolar disorder, the book details a genuine portrait of the dramatic devastation of substance abuse, mania and depression. He shares practical examples of symptoms and interventions as well as hope to those with the illness. The publication has been endorsed by the University of Wisconsin-Madison, specifically, featured in On Wisconsin magazine (Winter 2013). In October of 2014, he was asked to present the lecture for the biennial Debra Beebe Memorial Scholarship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His lectures across the United States clarify common misconceptions of bipolar disorder and incite fresh ideas for treatment. Andrew is an Associate Lecturer at University of Wisconsin-Madison and works in private psychotherapy practice. -AndrewJamesArcher.com-
