For over thirty years, Alden M. Hayashi has been a writer/editor at various publications, including Scientific American, The Harvard Business Review, and MIT Sloan Management Review. Recently, though, he’s become increasingly restless in his work, wanting to move beyond covering just science, technology, and business. As a Sansei, or third-generation Japanese American, he now wants to write about his family as a way to honor the memories of his grandparents’ immigration to Hawaii, as well as to preserve the stories of the lives of their many descendants.
