Summary
The Porn Myth is a non-religious response to the commonly held belief that pornography is a harmless or even beneficial pastime. Author Matt Fradd draws on the experience of porn performers and users, and the expertise of neurologists, sociologists, and psychologists to demonstrate that pornography is destructive to individuals, relationships, and society. He provides insightful arguments, supported by the latest scientific research, to discredit the fanciful claims used to defend and promote pornography.
This book explains the neurological reasons porn is addictive, helps individuals learn how to be free of porn, and offers real help to the parents and the spouses of porn users. Because recent research on pornography's harmful effects on the brain validates the experiences of countless porn users, there is a growing wave of passionate individuals trying to change the pro-porn cultural norm - by inspiring others to pursue real love and to avoid its hollow counterfeit.
Matt Fradd and this book are part of that movement, which is aiding the many men and women who are seeking a love untainted by warped perceptions of intimacy and rejecting the influence of porn in their lives.

Hugely relevant and hugely illuminating
This audiobook is incredibly illuminating and really sets out the myths of porn. Its relevance to current Western society is obvious. It contains many truths which may be hard to swallow for some people.
I really enjoyed this audiobook and would recommend it to anyone, especially young men. The latter part of the audiobook sets out many studies pertaining to the nature of porn addiction and the like. This got a little tiresome, and this is why I rated the audiobook 4 rather than 5 stars (would have given 4.5 stars if possible!).

Interesting and surprising
I found this fascinating, it confirms a lot of what I have learned over the past year. Good to get more in depth detail

Very good and informative book
Unlike another review claims, this isn’t a religious book - it’s for anyone to acknowledge + acknowledges all sides of the argument.

Not as bad as the reviews claim
I went into this book expecting an extremely one sided anti porn stance, however, it's actually not that one sided. Certainly not the best book on the subject (Your brain on Porn is much better) and the author of the porn myth clearly has some bias but he's open minded enough and it shows in this book - it's very informative. He even says porn should not be banned but there needs to be proper education at a young age - this is very good advice. Another great thing is that this book is free with the plus catalogue.
It's not a perfect book - it does focus too much on the porn industry and not enough on WHY people view porn, but it's still eye opening. I recommend this book.

Lacking
Speaking personally I am anti-porn -- but I know enough about life to understand that it isn't all about the woman being victim to some predatory male need, which is the overall impression that this book seems to give.
Being written from a feminist perspective it largely ignores how men too can be victims of porn, how men are also commodified (and disposable) in the industry and also ignores that porn is not always heterosexual or professional.
There's very little in the way of advice available for people who wish to escape porn addiction.
All in all it's well presented and easy to listen to, but there were many times I found myself shaking my head at the overtly moral perspective that seemed to paint all women as weak victims.
Porn is not healthy, but there are far better resources out there that can give you a far better perspective.

informative book with few fallacies here and there
I found the neuroscience insights very enlightening and useful, and gained a deeper understanding of the mechanism of porn induced mental health degradation. However, there are some fallacies and inacurate facts, as well as questionable studies here and there. To be appraised very critically. Apart from that, great book, highly recommended.

Preachy with flawed arguments.
Some good points, and use of evidence - but tone, logical errors undermines the message

Catholic only - sex is for marriage main theme
Terrible. Catholic propaganda. Implies there is something wrong with women who enjoy spanking, hair pulling, choking, slapping ect.
Anyone who cares about the please of women they sleep with and isnt Catholic will attest that women enjoy these behaviours much more than men.
I used to be addicted to porn and actually love sex unlike the narrator despite his claims. I don't use porn very frequently but still slip, I hate porn and if you are looking for a helpful book to quit I would reccomend -Your brain on porn Gary Wilson
This book talks little about the negative effects of porn on the consumer and how to quit and offers tons of content on how sex is for marriage and what porn does to wives.
