About this listen
18-year-old Scott Keating knows a whole world exists beyond his parents' strict control. But until he gains access to the World Wide Web, he really has no idea what's out there. In a chat room Scott meets "JeffUK". Jeff loves and understands him, and when he offers to bring Scott to the UK, Scott seizes his chance to escape his humdrum life and see the world. But when his plane touches down and Jeff isn't there, panic sets in.
Collars and Cuffs' favorite barman and dom-in-training, Ben Winters, drops his sister off at the airport and finds a lost, anxious Scott. Hearing Scott's story sets off alarm bells, along with his protective instincts. Taking pity on the naïve boy, Ben offers him a place to crash and invites him to Collars and Cuffs, hoping his bosses will know how to help. Scott dreams of belonging to someone, heart and soul. Ben longs for a sub of his own. And neither man sees what's right under his nose.

I'm really invested in this series. The characters are so well written and I love that the main characters from past books crop up in the following ones. This one is about Scott, a young naive American, who has been talking to Jeff from Manchester. He runs away from home to be able to be with his love. Ben, barmen at Collar and Cuffs meets Scott thinking he's a young child lost or in need of help. A great story, ups and downs, lots of angst but an HEA.

The Audio: I love Nick J Russo narrations! His choices for voicing rang true to me and as always, he brings out all the emotion that the author's put into the story & adds his own style & emotions to it, creating a wonderful reading/listening experience that I will enjoy again & again.
An emotional ride,

I'll try not to put too many spoilers in this review.
Scott is an naive young man who thinks he knows what he wants - to find true love - and being oh so innocent he falls for flattery and leaves behind his sheltered repressed world and heads off into the unknown. Big mistake as readers (listeners) can tell. Fortunately he lands on his feet and is 'rescued'. As he starts to build his new life things aren't always plain sailing - hey that's real life.
I found myself getting infuriated with Scott and Ben and sometimes wanted to knock their heads together when they cant see what is obvious to the listener. Suddenly disaster strikes and it seems like their whole world has fallen apart. Will they get back together again?
I have mentioned in reviews of the earlier books that the BDSM theme is handled well in my opinion. So many times I hear people say that sort of relationship is just a brutal sadistic bastard getting his pleasure from a weak submissive who has no say. How wrong these people are and how little they actually know. It takes time to learn what makes a sub 'tick' and any good Top or Master will take the time to learn from a submissive as well as teaching. OK sometimes a 'relationship' can work with total domination and total submission, but I dont know of anyone in that sort of scenario where the relationship has been long-term. As I have mentioned in a review of an earlier book in the series - I DO know of couples in Dom/sub relationships who have made it works for many years to the benefit of both parties.
KC shows an understanding of BDSM relationships that is quite interesting and puts over the love which is in this sort of relationship and shows it growing and developing. Characters from the previous books can be seen blossoming and sustaining a loving, caring situation and it works well to have those short flash-backs to remind one of the earlier stories and link into the current.
I've read and listened to the whole series and the spin-off (no I wont spoil that) and would recommend this book and series to anyone. There IS explicit description when it comes to sex scenes, but this is not just for titillation but rather to help explain the background and growing relationship so don't be put off by that.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. Nick J Russo is one of the top 5 narrators for me, I can listen without break and have no problems to follow.
I'm just not yet finish with the book, just over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.
