Oh my god! This book! it is really hard to know what to say, to be honest i have come back to edit this review after reflection. The setup of this book and the underlying romance is amazing BUT! The BDSM is very problematic in places. The lack of safe gards the breaking of agreed boundaries its really not good. especially with a newbi dom. I adore the presentation of the book and the people but the sex could be so much better!

How original to describe a loving, same sex and D/s relationship with such candour. Orgasms that are not multiple, mundane insecurities and having to negotiate the vanilla world. I will seek out other works by Lorelei Elstrom as a result of finding this one so compelling, sexy and down to earth.

This book is unusual because it combines 3 characteritics rarely seen together:
1. A sexy/erotic fetish storyline.
2. Romance and love.
3. Realism.
This makes it very rare in my experience and also elevates it above the usual erotic stories out there. Well worth a listen of this genre is of interest to you. Its telling/presentation is not as polished as a big mainstream book but that can be forgiven in my opinion.

I loved the story, it was heart warming and at the same time so erotic it is hard to put into words, and the narrators voices just brings the story to life even more.

I whole heartedly recommend this author and this book to anyone who enjoys a good quality story.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The main thing I'd change is the unsafe nature of the play. Though I got the impression this is a true story maybe with just the names changed. If so they are playing horribly unsafely. In particular the bondage play. They practice fairly severe bondage, including gags and then she leaves Regina alone. Might be a subs fantasy, but is incredibly dangerous. And for that reason I hate seeing it in books that people might read and thing this is an okay for of bondage play.

Would you recommend Owning Regina to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes, because the romance is quite a novel one, and some of the scenes are fairly hot. No, because of the bad aspects of play in the book, and the fact that there is a very large dull part from about half way till the three quarters mark.

Have you listened to any of Hunter Keanon’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Possibly, but don't recall if I have. But a good narrator I thought regardless.

Was Owning Regina worth the listening time?

I listened to it all and enjoyed it too in general. Not the best, but far from the worst. Average read for me, but others may like it a lot.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed some of the switch play, and you may find that Regina is actually the tougher top - I did.

I didn't like one of the scenes at all, which was the first time Regina whipped Meg. You should never whip for revenge or in anger. The scene was abuse, clear and simple, and BDSM gets enough of that thrown at it without writing scenes that show it happening.

The book does read like two novices learning together, which is fine, but because of that it is always a worry to me that readers might try these things thinking it's normal. No real talk about likes for a long period. No way to safe-word when gagged, and other issue too. So treat it as fiction please if you read it - not a how to guide.

I struggled with this one and I say that not having struggled with any other sapphic books yet... The BDSM practices were not practical and not a good demonstration oh how a relationship like this should function... However outside of that the communication in their relationship was very amazing and definitely goals...

I also didn't like the music or the diary format of this story but that's just a personal preference...

This is a dangerous book if inexperienced people think they can play like this.

I couldn't finish it because of this and returned it.
