Summary

Monster. Liar. Thief. Killer.

I’ve been called it all and so much worse.

And they’re not wrong.

I’ve been running my whole life. Hiding from the monsters who haunt my dreams and who will tear me apart again and again if they ever find me. I live off whatever I can steal, trapped inside a fae prison city filled with pollution, sin and poverty. Humans have captured the Fae.

We belong to them now.

My scars make me a bad omen to my people, who shun and torment me at every turn.

Cyrus, the egotistical and frustratingly gorgeous leader of the fae under-city, can’t seem to decide whether he wants to kill me or claim me for his own dark and delicious desires.

And Reid, a dangerous and hypnotically beautiful human Authority Agent whose sole purpose should be to keep me in the dirt, has decided to keep me as his own personal Pet instead.

But when dark, demonic creatures start attacking, killing human and Fae alike, alliances must be made, especially when the monsters seem to be determined to find and slaughter me.

A dormant war is awakening, and the part I must play in it is only just becoming clear.

Do I stand and fight? Or do I strike the match and watch them all burn?

Lies of the Fae is book 1 in “The Stolen Fae series”. It’s a dark, urban-fantasy romance full of magic, danger, passion, and pain.

*Please Note: This is a dark MFM romance book and contains explicit content and darker elements. It is not intended for anyone under 18 years of age. For full list of triggers, please check the author's website.

Fantastic narration of an awesome book

I loved this book when I first read it. Brought to life by Amy Putt’s narration has made the story even better. M. J. Lawrie has a real talent for original and entrancing stories. Her characters often have flaws and vulnerabilities that make them feel more real. And she really puts these characters through the mixer! If you have triggers, you need to check them before listening, and this is definitely one aimed at a mature audience, which Alexa reminded me of every time I tuned in. Loved, loved, loved it!

Brilliant

Brilliantly written story essentially about how the humans have marginalized the fae, forcing them into a life where they have no choice but to follow human rules. The MFM romance involves two handsome but dangerous magic wielding males, and a damaged & traumatised fae woman called Raven. It has all the usual excitement, action and angst involved in an M.J. Lawrie book, but this one has surprisingly more spice than usual.

Amy Putt did an amazing job as per usual narrating this book. I highly recommend it, and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Beautifully written and gripping storyline

Dark bully fairy 🧚‍♀️ MFM romance
I rate this book and the overall performance of the narrator ☆☆☆☆
Spice is 🌶.5 (in my personal opinion)

I really enjoyed listening to the audio of this book. The narrator Amy Putt always manages to bring each character to life and give them their individual characteristics so they are easily distinguished from each other.

The story follows Raven on her traumatic travels to escape all who want to capture or harm her.
Raven and her sister must do anything they can to escape the monsters that want them. Collared they can not escape their harsh reality and must stick together to survive each day. Daily they scan their eyes to make sure they have not turned dark and become the monsters that they fight so hard from becoming.

Raven gets betrayed by a lot of people who she thought were people who care about her. Events lead her down a path that will change her life forever, along with some unexpected allies to help her along the way.

The story flowed well and was gripping from start to finish. There was a small amount of spice throughout the book.
The FMC is a strong 💪 and fierce female lead and rarely shows weakness.

There are a lot of triggers in this book so make sure to check your warnings before reading. I myself love a dark romance and have no triggers so this was a great read for me and fits many of the tropes I enjoy.

I look forward to finding out what happens to Raven in the next book 📖 💖

Great story

The narrotor makes such a good job bringing the story to life. Can’t wait for the next book in the series. It’s a dark story that slowly unfolds and you really want to know what happens. Read the tw if you don’t like certain themes. I like the characters, the author is really good at developing their stories and since there are a lot of twists you never knows what comes next.

Fabulous story!

Wow, I have just finished this book and I’m trying to get myself together to write a review! This was such a great book. The story was very different to any other fae book I have read, and I have read a lot! Raven, the main character, has had such a harrowing and traumatic life, which has made her very strong in some ways. Underneath, she is traumatised and fighting to get through each day. This is a very dark story, and I felt I was fighting with her every step of the way. The narrator, Amy Putt, did such an amazing job bringing the characters to life and making them believable. I loved this story and can’t wait to continue with the series. Highly recommended.
