About this listen
When Shawn’s best mate, Dave, breaks up with his girlfriend, Shawn tries not to get his hopes up. After all, Dave’s still straight, right? Wrong. Dave reveals he’s bisexual, and that pounding you hear is Shawn’s heart. He’s loved Dave for so long, but he’s not about to jeopardize their friendship by telling Dave how he really feels.
But when Dave discovers Shawn’s little kink, it opens up a whole new chapter for the two friends. Except Shawn can’t help but worry - if there was no kink, would Dave be there? And is Shawn brave enough to find out?
A stand-alone short story of lust, lace - and love....
This is a stand-alone erotic romance for listeners who are 18 years of age and older.

A steamy little taster!
A really well done short story! I could feel the longing and interest from Shawn and the interest and lust from Dave. I could feel their history and friendship even as they came together and discovered a k*nk and love for eat other. I felt this was a well rounded short read and I loved these two together!
I love a steamy read and this one was great!

Cute story
The narration was easy to listen to. I liked the characters, and I wanted them to make it. The kink aspects were fun. The big misunderstanding aspect was a little frustrating, but overall an enjoyable short listen, definitely worth the listen.

Is it love or kink?
Sean has wanted his friend Dave for so long. Dave is straight right? Well maybe not. This is a friends to lovers story. Poor Sean is full of insecurities though - does Dave want him - or just the kink? These guys were both sweet, but both to scared to say what they are thinking - which makes it a bumpy road to their HEA. Good short listen.

Great Story & Narration🎧 An Enjoyable Delight!
This great story is an enjoyable delight! It is a well written, fast moving story that grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it the entire time. I adored the two lead characters, Shawn and Dave, they have been friends since childhood, shared a lot with each other but not everything until now. Dave learns Shawn likes his lace and in turn Shawn learns about Dave’s discovery and bi-awakening. This is a sweet and spicy friends to lovers story, it is nicely plotted and there is never a dull moment. It is the perfect book to heat up a cold afternoon or evening. K.C Wells, thank you for another enjoyable and entertaining story!
🎧📚🎧 Seb Yarrick is a wonderful narrator and voice artist. He brings the characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality. He does a great job portraying the characters, capturing all of their emotions and projecting them into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen🎧

wires keep getting crossed
Sean and Dave have been best friends for years but Sean would love them to be more....just one problem with that, Dave's straight!
Sean and David keep making the mistake of assuming things rather than talking to each other which makes for a great story. lots of heat, fun and romance, I loved it!! This is the first time I've heard Seb Yarrick narrate and he did a great job, everything was clear and concise and emotions came across brilliantly.

Hot as fire!
Lace is the first book I ever read by K.C. Wells, back in 2017. It started my love of her stories and I haven’t missed too many she’s published since this one. When I found out it was being done in audio, I jumped at the chance to listen and review.
This is a great friends-to-lovers story. At times I wanted to bang the MCs heads together and tell them to wake up! 😊 When Shawn and Dave finally get on the same page – watch out!
I've often said that a book doesn't have to be long to be good and Lace is a great example of that. I love this length of audiobook because it’s perfect for finishing in one evening.
This is only the second audiobook I’ve listened to performed by Seb Yarrick. I think he did a great job. I enjoyed his performance of this one more than the first one I listened to so perhaps it just took me a bit to get used to his voice. In any case, I’ll be listening to more of his performances.
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

Great book, ok narration
I liked the concept of the story, friends who start something after one’s secret is revealed. It is a shorter story, but there is a lot of heat in that short 3 hours of audio. My only problem was I struggled liking the narrator and his accent. Overall, good book, but if you struggle with accents, you should probably stick to the book.

So Hot! And What a Performance By Seb Yarrick!
Okay first… that cover! Whoa, just sayin’.
Lace, the first book in K.C. Wells’ standalone A Material World series, is a sweet and delightfully kinky friends-to-lovers romance. When these buddies finally come clean about their attraction to one another, getting sweaty between the sheets just comes naturally.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K.C. Wells should write adult movies. (I know I'd watch them!) The situations these boys find themselves in, and oh YES, the dirty talk! Seriously smoking hot. And listening to it all performed by Seb Yarrick is such a treat. The way he pronounces some of his words: tongue, delicious, silk, and lace. Well you get where I'm going... simply shiver inducing, toe curlingly wonderful.
Mr. Yarrick has come up with distinct voices for each of the main characters, and they fit so perfectly with their personalities. Adorable Shawn in his lacy underthings. Gruff and manly (and slightly dommy) Dave. And Shawn’s lovely, supportive parents; I got such a kick out of the adorable voice he uses for Shawn’s mum.
These characters are well developed, and even in this short novella, their unique personalities really come out. Shawn’s playfulness with his accountant jokes, and Dave’s slightly macho retreat to the gym when he needs to sort out his emotions. Both men are so real, and they’re just great characters.
As the fun continues and the men become more intimate Shawn’s insecurity grows. Does Dave just want him for his lacy lingerie? How deep do their feelings really go? Turns out sharing their true feelings is the hard part, and it takes some real trust for them to open up with each other.
Looking ahead I see there are three more books in this series and I’ve got high hopes K.C. Wells plans to have them performed by Seb Yarrick as well. The plots sound fantastic, and I just hope I can hold out till they're available in audio!

Sweet Story w/Great Narration
This was a sweet story of two friends who harbored secret crushes on the other. One was an out and proud gay man, and the other recently discovered his bisexuality. 👨❤️💋👨 👨🏼🤝👨🏻
When it was discovered that Dave wasn’t the only one with secrets, their relationship made a swift shift into new territory. Things weren’t smooth sailing, as they’d hope, and misunderstandings occurred. 🤦🏼♂️ 🤷🏻♂️
This was an entertaining story that was both fun and sweet. I enjoyed the characters. 🏋️ 💇🏻♂️
Seb Yarrick is a new to me narrator. He did a great job bringing this story to life. I look forward to hearing more from him in the future. ❤️ 🎙

as good as the ebook
The story is always 4-5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.
PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
To my ratings:
5* - very very good
it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A
3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B
