The Klondike Detective

It is 1901 in the gold fields of the Yukon Territory where driven men cheat and steal in their quest of these yellow nuggets. In the midst of this madness, John Caldwell arrives to mine, after a narrow escape from death in the South African war. He soon ends this attempt and embarks on a new venture, to protect miners from theft. When his first client is robbed of a large amount of gold, John is off and in search of these criminals.

The Klondike Detective 2 continues the story of John Caldwell. He decided to take leave from the Northwest Mounted Police in Dawson City in 1902 to visit his family. Nearby, in Kingston Penitentiary, Cedric Barton and Robert McGill escape. These were men that John helped to convict, so he follows them to San Francisco. There, he becomes a Pinkerton's agent and then a double agent employed by Lila McGill, who is Robert McGill's mother, since the McGill gang is now at war with the Barton Tong.

After San Francisco and Shanghai, John Caldwell is back in Dawson City as a detective with the North West Mounted Police. The year is 1903, and he is asked to search for a missing judge. He returns to Eagle in the Alaskan Territory and discovers it was murder. He takes time away to hunt for why the judge was murdered, which takes him to Chicago, New York, Washington, and Virginia to solve a long-standing conspiracy. Along the way he is involved in a train robbery, captured and attacked before he finds out the reason. 

It is late in 1903 and Corporal John Caldwell has just returned from his time away resolving a murder that took place in the Alaskan Territory. Just after he arrives back in Dawson City, he witnesses a murder where he becomes a witness. After the trial there is request for a detective and he travels to Calgary in the Alberta District. He assists to resolve several serious cases when he is placed underground to deal with a gambling operator and illegal liquor. When the operator is killed John tracks down the gang to a farm.

John Caldwell can’t stay away from trouble. It is September in 1904, and he is chosen to travel to London to work with Scotland Yard. He goes undercover and is involved with several encounters with thieves, Irish terrorists and spies. Admiralty secrets are stolen, so he is sent to Special Branch to find them. Once again, he works with Charles Compton in Naval Intelligence to search out who stole them and why.
