This is the second book in the Caroline series, beginning where "Halfway to Heaven Caroline’s Story" ended. Caroline has a chance encounter with a man who appears to be her saving grace and agrees to take a chance. However, taking this chance began a journey, leading her to the same kind of people she already knew, but they were in a new disguise. They were self-righteous and smug in their certainty and intolerant moralities. The submissive, hopeless dreamer in Caroline was easily manipulated while they rode their red carpets of authority.

Eyvonne reveals how Caroline’s father laid the foundation for her to become the perfect wife, employee, mother, and friend in order to try to keep calm and order. Submissive Caroline learned early in life what the consequences were otherwise.
