  • Happy Hispanic (Latinx) Heritage Month!
    Sep 17 2021

Hola! We are BACK and ready to connect, share and celebrate with you, our listeners! We return on the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month!

Welcome to besos, chao – a podcast focused on challenging and analyzing community, cultura y más.

We chat about why we’ve been away on hiatus and how we can’t wait to jump back into this project. We dabble into the AOC at the MET GALA, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s return, and the criminal connection of the new franchise with Bravo’s most famous “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” in POP CULTURE CORNER.

Our primary focus this week is the history and celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month in the USA! We go in-depth on the creation, its purpose, and how you can become active in this month-long celebration from September 15th-October 15th!

Grab your caffeinated beverage or a glass of tequila and immerse yourself in a lively conversation between two best friends figuring it out day by day!

As always share, comment, and rate us!

  • tacos are our love language
    Apr 16 2021

This week we jump into our conversation by trying a homemade kombucha margarita (Jules) and Topo Chico’s new spiked seltzer (James)! Grab your drink! Unless you’re listening while driving and then get some cafe con leche!

Jules talks about traveling to the homeland of Mexico during the pandemic, James talks about seeing a live performance for the first time in over a year. We chat about the return of shared space with humans experiencing art. Art makes us feel human again! Wear your mask and get those shots - they make you sexy!

We have some trash-talking to do about tequila and its unethical process of being made… who knew that George Clooney was fucking with agave. We talk Jen Shah and the fall of the empire she fakes on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City and the concept of capitalization on a culture that is not yours.

We also talk about our dream tequila brand…

Anyway… then we talk about Megan Markle and if she will attend the funeral for Prince Philip our bet is that she doesn’t. Speaking of problematic things we chat about the Zigler sisters of Dance Moms and the scandals around them cough *blackface cough *playing an autistic character as an able-bodied person.

WAIT - we have a question for you. Have you seen the Pixar film Coco? If you haven’t we publicly shame you. SHAME.

Then we step our tea into a friendship audit, we test ourselves on what we know and what we need to know as best friends of over 10 years. Sit back and listen to stories about how Julia broke her nose, that time James wore a hideous mullet on a TV show and tacos of course!

    Besos!

  • fame is an addiction
    Mar 25 2021

Welcome back, listeners. We think the world of you, and hello to those listeners across the pond, welcome to the party! This week we mentioned England quite a bit and yes, it has to do with Meghan, Duchess of Sussex Markle.

This week we tackle conversations about caffeine, moving, Aperol Spritz, White Wine, and fame. Julia gives an insight into the new Justin Bieber Album "Justice," which should probably be renamed "FLOP." In the music world, we hit on our love for Beyonce, the controversy around Megan Thee Stallion, and Cardi B's WAP performance at the 63rd GRAMMYs®️... We ask what is performance and what is produced? We also celebrate Beyoncé (every day)!

Let us break down character assassination together as we unpack the Oprah Winfrey conversation with Megan Markle and Prince Harry. We give you our biggest takeaways from the conversation that shook the culture from the USA to the UK. All the while addressing the racism that seems to prevail in both of those cultures.

  • in the midst of a burnout episode
    Mar 4 2021

This week didn't go as planned; the plan was to talk about BURN OUT. Instead, we realized we were in the midst of a BREAKDOWN. We are hitting on a one-year mark of living through a pandemic, one in which we have been experiencing the grief of our lives, our escapes, our dreams, and worst of all, over 2.5 million people that died from this virus.
We got a bit rageful. We found some light in some dark moments.
    But we are still here.
    And you are still here.
Maybe next week we will be more hopeful?
Maybe next week you will be more hopeful?

    Jules + James
