  • Ep. 1: Bodywarmer
    Jan 4 2018

[Contains explicit content] One day, Danny Wallace's neighbour walked over the road specifically to make fun of the bodywarmer he was wearing. What kind of world is it, where this can happen? And why would someone do that?

It's time for another fanciful, always funny and strangely absurd exploration of one of Danny's many obsessions. This episode, what do Danny's friends make of his unnatural love of padded, armless clothes?

With him this week are Laura Prepon (Orange is the New Black), James Buckley (The Inbetweeners), Tony Hale (Arrested Development, Veep), DJ and columnist Jameela Jamil and stand-up Andi Osho... to talk about Danny's bodywarmer.

    Music by Ben Wise.
    Produced by Colin Anderson.

What is it about him that the global community finds so appealing? And why don't they just ask his permission?

This week Danny sits down with Laura Prepon (Orange Is The New Black); Patrick Kielty (Patrick Kielty Almost Live); Wendy Wason (Last Comic Standing); and writer/comedian Marc Haynes... to talk about identity theft.

    Music by Ben Wise.

    Jan 4 2018

With him to discuss authority are Rhys Thomas (Down the Line); writer and actress Lucy Montgomery (Bellamy's People); Rich Fulcher (The Mighty Boosh, Questionable Science) and author and comic Luisa Omielan (What Would Beyoncé Do?).

    Music by Ben Wise.
    Produced by Colin Anderson.

Perfect for a family drive (Teenagers+)

Very funny and different.

Will keep everyone entertained on a family road trip but the occasional 12+ content.

Hmmm.

Parts of this were quite irritating, like the chapter where Danny talks about the fact that his wife always leaves the toilet door unlocked when she goes to the toilet. He then proceeds to have a drawn out conversation about why or why not this might be acceptable and the various reasons for and against. One guest in particular patronizingly womansplains that he is a `wuss`, and gives the overall message that he needs to man up etc. etc. and is stupid for even questioning why his wife doesn`t lock the toilet door, all while laughing in what appears to be a very affected tone. I`ve actually listened to almost all of Danny`s books and have always enjoyed his stuff, especially his last book. While you could never call his stuff high-brow, it is usually good light entertainment which keeps you distracted enough on a boring day. Parts of this however, just sounded like teenagers in the pub.

Interesting concept. Some lazy jokes.

Danny Wallace has an affable air about him. That makes this listenable. Interesting concept of not asking the guests anything about themselves and having no idea who is talking.
Some casual lazy jokes about other nations let it down. Pity that it had to go there.
