We are simply expanding our horizons while continuing to shine a much needed bright light on crime and corruption wherever it appears. Celebrated journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell are taking their style of reporting beyond Alex Murdaugh and his co-conspirators while pursuing justice for all the victims you've met so far. Ranked #1 and #2 globally in 2021 and 2023 respectively as the Murdaugh Murders Podcast, True Sunlight provides unmatched insight into the crimes and criminals exposed on MMP and dives deep into new instances of corruption across the US. • TSP #51 - What Happened To Mica Miller? Best Friend Gives Haunting Details Of Abusive Relationship
    May 16 2024
Before South Carolina pastor’s wife Mica Miller was found dead in a North Carolina state park at the end of April, her best friend tried to get church officials to step in and do something about Pastor JP Miller’s “volatile” behavior toward Mica. They admitted seeing it too … but they did nothing. Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell continue to look into what Mica’s life looked like leading up to her suicide. In this episode, Mica’s best friend speaks out about what she saw happening in her friend’s marriage — from a November 2022 blow-up in which JP’s friendly mask came off to Mica’s attempts to escape from his control to JP’s continued attempts to control the narrative — and about Mica’s frame of mind as she started to gain independence from him. One thing is for sure: Mica was a beloved member of JP’s church and when she filed for divorce two days before her death, the thing he feared the most — that Mica would leave him and cause a split in his congregation — was about to happen. • TSP #50 - Exposing The Evil That Ended Mica Miller’s Life + Michael Colucci’s Retrial POSTPONED
    May 9 2024
Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell untangle the very strange — and very heartbreaking — death of Mica Miller, a 30-year-old pastor’s wife from South Carolina whose body was found in a North Carolina state park a few weeks ago. Over the weekend, journalists, true crime aficionados and people hoping for justice learned about Mica’s death, accusations of marital abuse and her in-progress divorce, along with one very strange sermon in which her estranged husband — John Paul Miller — announced her death to his flock by telling them to stand, listen and don’t talk about what they’re about to hear after they hear it. Internet sleuths worked overtime, convinced the road to Mica’s death would lead them back to her husband. When Robeson County Sheriff’s Office deputies released details about why they had ruled Mica’s death a suicide, they provided an answer, but many more questions still linger. Through suicide, Mica Miller pointed the world toward her husband, who she feared would “put a bullet in her head.” This week's episode of True Sunlight looks at the investigation into Mica’s death and digs into police reports that outline what Mica’s life looked like in the months and weeks before she took her own life. Also on the show, why was Michael Colucci’s murder trial postponed AGAIN? And Premium Members get an extended version with more information about the decision to delay the Colucci case. • TSP #49 - Speeding To The Colucci Retrial - Newly Discovered Reports Shed Light On Michael Colucci's Time Out On Bond
    May 2 2024
The Michael Colucci retrial is less than two weeks away in the Charleston area of South Carolina. Did Michael kill his wife, did she kill herself or did Sara Lynn Colucci die after tripping and falling into the loose loop of a garden hose? Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell — who helped bring justice in the Alex Murdaugh cases — continue their pre-trial digging in the hopes of bringing more sunlight to the Colucci case this time around. This week they share what they found in newly discovered reports that show all the times police were called to houses where Michael has stayed. A social media post by one of Michael’s friends appears to be mocking pre-trial coverage of Michael’s case. Police reports continue to add confusion to the question of Michael’s bond status. Plus, a look at how investigators handled — or didn’t handle — accusations that Michael vandalized his parents’ beach house after getting evicted and the coincidence of when this case was dropped. Also, Michael’s high-priced and big reputation attorney Andy Savage files a slew of pretrial motions, trying to prevent the jury from finding out that HE destroyed evidence in the first trial. Stay Tuned, Stay Pesky and Stay in the Sunlight...☀️ Premium Members also get exclusive access to detailed timelines, police reports, and even photos from the shocking damage from the 2nd home Michael was kicked out of. Well researched, interesting story, BUT...

The many deaths surrounding the Murdaugh dynasty in South Carolina has been a developing, fascinating story over the past couple of years. This podcast is well researched and provides interesting insight into the case. Unfortunately I couldn't get pass 12 episodes, as I found the structure a mess and the host/ writer is (and I really hate saying this) one of the most infuriating and annoying individuals I have had the misfortune to hear. Incredibly conceited from the get go, she regularly boasts of her achievements with the story and dismissive to other media outlets (because she's the best). Her delivery has a "vocal fry", something I did notice, but didn't think about it too much until she told the listeners off for mentioning it in her comments. Bringing in her fiancé to tell us what an amazing journalist she is doesn't help. They talk about haters, a lot of complaining. She comes across incredibly arrogant, so much so it's a distraction. I wanted to support this, I think it's a fascinating, but tragic story. However I feel the writer's continuous boasting, unpleasant manner and placing herself at the centre of the tale is grating and frankly disrespectful to the victims in this story.

Fascinating story

The Murdaugh story is unbelieable and I am sure it will be made into a film - such a large web that touches so many areas. However Mandy's voice is very annoying and she is constantly telling you how wonderful she is. You can usually fast forward the first 10 mins and last 5 mins with her trying to sell you stuff or explain how great she is. If it wasn't because the story is just so amazing I would have turned off a long time ago.

Fascinating story, thoroughly researched however..

So far I'm 18 episodes in and I want to hear more but I have issues with the production,
Firstly Audible automatically takes you to the most recent podcast and if you are trying to capture story from the start then there's constant scrolling through.
Secondly, the disjointed ordering of podcasts is confusing, rather than episodes,1,2,3 etc you get an episode about Gloria Satter, then one about where's the money, then back to one about Stephen Smith, then about the money, etc etc, this so difficult to follow.
Thirdly there's a huge amount of repeated sound-bites so you hear the same pieces again and again and then you can miss the new bits of information.
Fourthly, I too find it annoying when the reporter is telling us how wonderful they are to have exposed a story that everyone else overlooked.
Finally, I pay a monthly subscription for Audible so its annoying to have so many adverts and I am unimpressed with the reporters fiancée bombarding me with the opportunity to advertise and how the reporter and her boss Will are changing world, yes be proud but you've not invented Penicillin!
Finally, finally I have zero complaints with Mandys voice it's genuine
